According to Sportsnet's Michael Grange, "there is persistent speculation" that Siakam could be dealt prior to the regular season or "perhaps much sooner" as the NBA's wild transaction market starts to cool off a bit over the coming weeks.

Grange added added that throughout a tumultuous 2022-23 campaign, VanVleet and Siakam grew "deeply frustrated" with their younger teammates throughout the course of the season, as losses to inferior opposition began mounting.

According to Grange, the Raptors' young stars did not take kindly to their patronizing older teammates, creating a divide in the locker room that Nurse and his staff could not bridge.

Hoping it's a non-center package going to Toronto. Hopefully this happens tonight.

Seems like this was just us deciding it wasn't worth paying Grant. So we extracted some value out of it. Good job by Brad to hold out for such a high price from Dallas that it enabled us to get some assets and still be able to offload the salary we'd have to take back. But it does stink to lose a decent/good player for nothing. Not crippling though.

Celtics don’t have to use the MLE. The Celtics just got a $6.5 TPE

Again depends on other trades

Bullock also wasn't a salary match.

If you send Pritchard out (maybe for a few more 2nds...) and replace with a min, you can use it pretty easily

I saw something last night centered on DJM and Siakam. Makes a little sense. ATL could throw in extras.

Different uses tho. TPMLE (if we renounce TPE) to sign a guy.
TPE to trade for a guy without matching within 110%.

Even Pritchard out and a $6M guy back works now when it didn't before due to 110%.

Would be mildly amusing if the biggest reason we haven’t made a larger move was because of having to wait for Champagnie to become trade eligible on Friday.

If I'm Toronto I insist on one of Griffin or Johnson, Johnson a Masai Ujiri prototype.

I don't get why people on twitter are acting like this is a surprise. Did we not hear right when the KP trade was being worked on that the KP trade means we're letting Grant go? Of course we let him go. The thing is we got some assets and a TPE out of it.

it was always smart and grant going out due to the KP trade basically. I thought we all knew that already.

Also there's no reason to trade Brogdon unless you're getting some useful players back. The entire reason why Smart was traded was in place of Brogdon. We keep Brogdon for depth or trade him as part of a big deal.

They need a back-up wing, they need another big, and if they trade Brogdon to get those they need another point guard..
