Giddey's gonna ride those Lamelo/Luka coattails to a top 12 selection

The normal thing is that it is top 10 but if it comes out of there it is a very good choice for Boston

I want the Celtics to draft with the 16th pick

1. Jalen Johnson - think he has star potential
2. Isaish Jackson - tall energy guy
3. Kai Jones - tall energy guy

Celtics have enough scoring. Need to fix the front court one way or another. Draft, Trade or free agency.

Edit: This is on May 19th. I'm sure I will change my mind 38 times before the draft.

Love all those - I'm always about the mobile bigs that we don't draft.

But, I am also intrigued by Tre Mann. Exactly the position we don't need without other moves, but seems like he'll be unleashed in the pros. Or not, I've watched like 3 min of clips...

I personally think Ainge is trading Smart for a draft pick plus and having two first round picks this year. This kind of does a soft reset of the Celtics salary cap and puts the Celtics in a better position when Kemba expires. Just my opinion.

Celtics then draft a point guard/combo guard and a big

Yep, I feel that one of Smart/Kemba won't be back. But, I'm not sure it's by the draft.

We all know something is going to happen. Doubt the Celtics can run it back as it is.

*hoping for Isaiah Todd and for Danny to make a miracle happen and get Suggs to add to Brown and Tatum

Hmmm so 16 it is.

Idk man, if one of Garuba, Kai Jones, Isaiah Jackson or Josh Giddey are still hanging around, I think you jump on that. I see a lot of love for Jalen Johnson, but I feel like he's redundant on this roster? Reminds me a lot of Tatum. Really don't need that type of player.

100%. Feel like it will be Smart, tbh. Easier contract to move, and as we see, Kemba can still score. Although I'm sure they're going to try and move Kemba too.

One recent mock I saw had him going no. 20.

I think he'll need some time to develop (probably should have stayed at duke another year to keep developing) so envision he's our backup 4 man next year with Tatum still at the 4. But then by 2022-2023 season Johnson is our stretch 4 and Tatum slides down to the 3..
Nothing wrong with having a different opinion - as long as it's done respectfully. It'd be lame if we all agreed on everything :)

Johnson is somewhat similar to Tatum, except:

-Johnson is an inch taller
-Johnson is better rim protection
-Johnson overall has more of an interior skill set (put-backs, post ups, defending bigger guys, etc.) whereas Tatum has more of a guard's skill set, more of a perimeter player (handling the ball on perimeter, shooting 3's, etc.)

Tatum is more of a natural 3, who can play the 4 if necessary. Johnson is more of a natural stretch 4, better equipped to defend and match up with opposing 4's like Giannis, Davis, Siakam, Collins, etc. (or at least Johnson will be once he's adjusted to NBA game and bulked up a little)

A more natural stretch 4 is a definite need for this team, since this season we tried playing Theis at the 4 (horrible mistake), we're playing Tatum at the 4 now (doable for now but not ideal since he's more of a 3) and we're forced to play Grant/Ojeleye/Parker off the bench at the 4

Not to mention Johnson is a really good passer, which would help address our ball movement problems..

Trade #16. I don't see anyone who could help much at that spot. Maybe it could help unload Kemba.

Hmm well in this case I'll have to watch him more. Sounds exactly like what we need.

What about this guy?

Slated to go no. 15 in this recent mock draft:

https://www.cbssports.com/nba/news/2021-nba-mock-draft-4-0-cade-cunningham-evan-mobley-jalen-suggs-go-1-2-3-as-lottery-picture-clears-up/

2nd best big man in the draft after Mobley, who's consensus top 3 pick.

6'10", he's the complete backage at center, dominating in the Turkey professional league and playing on Turkish national team, only 18 years old

sorry, 6'10" is too tall, we don't draft "those types" of players around here

(tankathon has him 9th on their big board; does he really weigh 240lbs?)
okay now that I've watched 6 minutes of the video I'm sold -- let's move up and get him:) Homeboy has some nice all-around game, including some advanced passing touch! And lol @ the play at 5:00 -- looks like, based on this single play, that he is ready for big-game rotation minutes with the Boston Celtics!

sorry double post get it together 31to6!

I'll ad-lib to say I don't want Jalen Johnson, I want one of the 6'10" or bigger guys. A 4/5 rather than a 3/4.
