Yes and no. My only concern would be that I'd prefer an offensive mind as Ime's lead assistant. But I wouldn't hate Cliff, he's a very solid coach.

Also btw I want Stotts as associate HC if he doesn't get a HC job, he's a very creative offensive coach just a meh HC

Would love this. Would be smart to give Udoka and experienced coach to aid his transition, plus he's a more defense-focused coach, so an offensive mind as lead assistant would be ideal.

Bleeding Green wrote:Why does everyone think Kidd is a bad coach? Because he was a clown and intentionally spilled water on the court that one time?

I understand he is a wifebeater, but strictly his coaching ability seems fine and tons of players respect and want to play for him seemingly.

I actually thought the spilling water thing was genius, he's just a mediocre coach at best. He has a career .491 winning percentage coaching a loaded Brooklyn team and Milwaukee teams with Giannis (not in his prime yet, but still) with a strong team around him that never finished better than 42-40. His teams always underachieved and unlike Kidd as a player had poor fundamentals and played dumb and sloppy. I don't think it's out of the question he could succeed in Dallas and Udoka could fail here, but I'd MUCH rather have Ime than someone who's already failed twice, no matter how great a player he was.

I'm in the same boat, I'm really excited they got Udoka. I just think Kidd was instrumental in Giannis's early development and none of those teams he coached were 'stacked', but for sure Budenholzer coming in and winning 60 games the following year is a bad look. Brooklyn was a bunch of washed up players.

This article came out after Kidd was fired as the Bucks coach.

Around the NBA, Kidd is universally respected for his basketball intellect, though people still have questions about his tactical instincts and his interpersonal skills. He has a reputation for burning bridges, going all the way back to his playing days.

Team officials cringed as Kidd repeatedly blamed the Bucks' youth for their struggles—an assertion he repeated in mid-January, just days before his dismissal.

"It was constantly, 'Hey, it was the players' fault—they're not doing this, they're not doing that, they're too young,'" a Bucks source says.

Sources both inside and outside the organization say Kidd had a tendency to fall in and out of love with players—e.g., demanding a trade for Michael Carter-Williams one day, burying him the next.

Team officials had also grown concerned that Kidd's demanding, old-school style had worn thin. Players were tuning Kidd out—or already had last season, according to one source with close ties to the team.

Honestly, I thought that when the bucks fired him, they were on the uprise. I was still scared of hiring him, cause I think that this current hiring will be huge in retaining Brown and Tatum.
Good assessment:

Why don't I want Kidd as the Celtics coach?

1. He's a bad guy who has assaulted women
2. He tried to stage a coup as coach of the Nets
3. He ran an absolutely archaic offense and a gimmick over-helping defense
4. He didn't bag Nia Long

Just wondering why they aren't announcing him? Are contract negotiations at a standstill? Just weird though.

Remember when everyone wanted Billups to be the choice? Now Portland is getting slammed. It really shows how little independent thought there is among fans, we’re just regurgitating from a buffet of two or three media takes.

Was shocked Jay William's didn't know the 4 previous African American Head Coaches of the Celtics. Udoka is at least the 5th Celtic African American Head Coach.

Serves me right for not googling. Partially forgot about M.L. Carr. He was the reason I said at least 5th.

But I believe that the 4 prior William's should have been aware of due to historical significance were Russell, Sanders, Jones and Doc. He should even know Sanders, since Sanders left the Celtics to become the architect of the NBA's rookie orientation program.

I always liked M.L. more as a player than as a coach.

Jay Williams also told people he did not ride the motorcycles?

Indiana is "poor, small market".

Boston is big, finances everywhere.

Pacers get a coach who won a title, lots of NBA head coach experience.

Celtics got an obscure unknown with no success and is only known in NBA circles because the Spurs tanked for Timmy, and at the end of Timmy's career this assistant sat there on the bench and watched him play.

Another training wheels coach for the Celtics.

This new coach knew Baynes before the Celtics did. That is his one skill?

The other skill, despite being a player for Team Nigeria, he was hired to hold a clipboard for Team USA in 2019.

He then watched as Kemba, Smart, Chucky Brown and Tatum were part of the worst Team USA ever.

A lifetime contract, and then this new coach becomes President of the Celtics?

Sure, he will be given a chance, but if he is for "The System" and plays point guards at small forward, that is not good.

You are a clown. So is Udoka (and I guess from the picture above, his wife) your new little gear to grind and source for your "jokes"?
