I feel like all the right pieces were added to the team to make all of this possible. Big Al coming back, DWhite, also Theis who I believe will be a factor against Golden State.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: I feel the same magic on this team similar to what the '08 Celtics had.

Does Horford's contract affect luxury taxes for this season, next season or both?

This is pretty terrible reporting and inaccurate. He did not get a bonus, he got more of his base salary for next year guaranteed. If they weren't going to cut him anyway, he gets paid the same regardless of how far the Cs go. That 5 million and 7 million are not additional compensation, they effectively just reduce/eliminate the already slim chance that he gets cut after the season to save money.

That's right. I'm really glad they went ahead and guaranteed Horford no matter what. It affirms Horford's contributions going into the Finals, and it would have been stupid anyway to dump him for $7m in savings.

It looks like Bobby Marks first tweeted that beating Golden State would push the Celtics into the luxury tax for 2022, due to bonus payments Jaylen Brown has earned for the ECF and would earn for a championship. Besides paying a bit of tax, the Celtics would also miss out on the $11 million in redistributed payments that non-taxpayer teams receive. Finally, I would imagine this starts the clock on an escalating luxury tax.

Could the Celtics still make a deal after the Finals, before the 2023 League Year starts, to deal away salary and get under the tax line? Or alternatively, if they're into paying the tax anyway, would it be worthwhile for Boston to use the Fournier TPE at the draft (before 2023 League Year) to get someone from a team looking to clear salary? If status quo is to pay tax, is it better to go ahead and pay more tax now to make a deal for someone who maybe fits the Fournier TPE in 2022 but not the 2023 League Year?

We could've just signed Dwight Howard, Hassan Whiteside, or Boogie Cousins. SMH.

I think he's also the oldest player to make 6+ threes in a Finals game.

Finally we have a 14-15 year old vet who can tell the team it's a marathon not a sprint.

happy 36th birthday Al! I'm sure he's enjoying his bday with a 1-0 series lead in the NBA finals after dropping 26 points for us last night :)
Nothing wrong with having a different opinion - as long as it's done respectfully. It'd be lame if we all agreed on everything :)

Playoff Al is the best big in the finals. On either side.
