Uh, oh, I'm going to spoiler my post because it definitely isn't a pick me up.

Spoiler:
The Sixers have had 3 other playoff series in the Embiid era where he missed a game and the opposing team failed to win that game. In all 3 series, the Sixers prevailed.

Even with his below DPOY defense, I'd still have him out there on the defensive end. Just not on the offensive side. If the game dictates it with no stoppage that's one thing, but it's another thing when you have him out there after a Timeout, and a whole other level if the play called involves him.

I saw multiple big plays tonight…

But the end result was a loss, as was the Atlanta loss where we relied on him too heavily on final possessions.

One of if not the biggest mistake of the game and worst turnover was Malcolm Brogdons pass to maxey. white also wasn’t on tonight.

If you’re argument is “what have you done for me lately” then tonight isn’t your argument for those guys & yet this completely ignores that for years and through multiple different staffs and gm’s These guys all put faith into smart.

I’m a fan of both DW & MB but smart was the furthest thing from the issue down the stretch

We sucked, but we don't suck.

Celts in 6 at the most.

Too many dumb decisions, too many times trying to make a high lite play, and too much flopping or fake hustle plays. I'm not saying he needs to go, but he would be better coming off the bench, but if we could get good value, I would move him. Also, what I mean by fake hustle plays, is diving on the floor when you have no chance at the ball or flopping on a drive trying to draw a foul and putting the team in a 4 on 5 disadvantage on the defensive end. He can be a truly great defensive player, but he needs to make great plays to make up for the bonehead ones. I mean he had as many turnovers as the entire sixer team tonight and his defense on Harden was nowhere near where it should have been.

Marcus must have bullied Brad during his rookie year and shoved him in a locker or something because the love affair there is maddening.

I think Smart has a place on this team but sometimes I miss Danny’s roster building always shoving a score first PG in there somewhere.

Tatum had an extremely efficiency 39/11/5 with 1 turnover, played the entire second, third, and fourth quarters. Then gave them the lead with 25 seconds or whatever left, Celtics just couldn’t get a stop the other end.

Jaylen had a super efficient 24/6/4, and 4 turnovers. Sixers did a GREAT job at denying him the ball, and a great job of throwing multiple defenders at Tatum in the second half. Other players need to make the defense pay for that, and it didn’t happen enough tonight.

Either way, this game was lost by not being able to get key stops.

Terrible TO by Brogdon, who imploded in the 4th Quarter.
The Boston guards left a lot to be desired tonight.
None of them, especially Smart who was torched by him, could stop Harden...

People always like to blame this player or that player. Bottom line is the Celtics as a team didn't defend the whole night long, kept turning the ball over (16 turnovers) especially in crunch time and made zero defensive adjustments the whole night long until it was too late.

That's the reason why the Celtics lost. Pretty simple

You failed Math, right?

Brogdon's 1 turnover led to 2 Sixer points.

Smart's 6 turnovers led to 6 Sixer points.

Not to mention, Brogdon had to get rid of the ball and forced it with under a second left on the shot clock; he shouldn't have had the ball that late in the clock.

A reenactment;
“Alright we’re going to inbound the ball to Marcus.”

Great, coach! And then?

“Huh? Take what the defense gives you. Use good judgement. Keep that edge. Glhf!”

Probably something like that

And there doesn't seem to be any sign that they'll start to play any defense any time soon.

More and more are seeing Tatum for the thumb-sucker he is. It took me a while too. After they lose to Philly that will be the official narrative. And it should be. He is soft as toilet paper.

I missed some math classes but I can read a clock- it’s when turnovers happen and the game situation which makes them more significant than others.

You wanna ignore that because tonight it doesn’t fit your narrative abut Brogdon and white>>>smart. Which is a fine argument to make some nights but not off tonight.

Which directly contradicts your “what have you done for me lately” mentality. Tonight down the stretch smart made plays for us….as he has multiple multiple times over the years.

Time to go to bed Green, Smart was one of our best players in the fourth man! Let’s be real , he’s the last guy I’m blaming for tonight’s choke job…

Return to Boston Celtics
