The guys outside of the top 5 that I will be watching closely this year are:

1. Ivan Rabb- 6-10, Cal
2. Domantas Sabonis- 6-10, Gonzaga
3. Stephen Zimmerman - 7-0, UNLV
4. Malik Newman- 6-4, Mississippi St.
5. Kris Dunn -6-4, Providence
6. Dwayne Bacon 6-7, Florida St.
7. Gary Payton II 6-3, Oregon St.
8. Niguel Haynes 6-8, Wisc.
9. Mamadou N'Diaye- 7-6 UC Irvine

There are a few other guys, but these are the main guys I'm going to watch closely other than the top 5-7 players on the mock boards.

@nbadraftblog: After so much time watching Damion Lee the past few days, have no doubt he will be one of the country's best players.

Slight Jimmy Butler vibe with this guy.

Diamond Stone has the potential to be a stud. NBA body, very skilled.

Let's assume we aren't able to make a consolidation trade by the time the draft rolls around. We can't draft another guard right? Gotta take either a 3, 4 or 5.

Dragan Bender has a new coach, former NBAer and short time Celtics player Žan Tabak. The old one was nice for him, giving him minutes, but the team looked like a mess.

All of the best players are forwards or centers. I'm not high on Kris Dunn. The other guards in the lottery are Jamal Murray, who is skilled but who isn't 6-5 or a particularly good athlete, and Furkan Korkmaz, who appears to be similar to RJ Hunter and in fact may not be as good.

Even if the Celtics have horrible luck in the lottery (again), there are a ton of bigs in this draft: Labissiere, Simmons, Bender, Ellenson, Poelti, Stone, Diallo, Zhou Oi, Damion Jones, Sabonis, etc.

Duke and Ingram on ESPNU right now.

EDIT: Grayson Allen is a guy DX is sleeping on IMO. Defense might be an issue, but dude has tons of offensive tools.

Saw a couple highlights from the Kentucky game and Murray looked pretty damn athletic to me.

Looks like he spent the summer in the gym...those were some powerful drives to the rack.

Simmons is the lovechild of Rondo and Blake Griffin.

Speaking of, Bill Simmons was gushing all over him, saying he's a future superstar. Not sure if that's promising or damning.

Also this was funny:

Ed Isaacson ‏@nbadraftblog 2h2 hours ago

Watching 2nd half of Kentucky from yesterday. Jamal Murray’s defense makes the Harrison twins look like Tony Allen

Chad Ford and Fran Fraschilla were comparing him to Brandon Roy.

Poeltl - - very nice game. 26 points, 11 boards and 4 blocks. Like this guy all season last year.

No idea why people want Crowder upgraded given Smart's field goal percentage. If the Celtics drafted a combo guard given the circumstances today, I say sign me up.

I couldn't believe what he was tweeting out after ONE game. Take it easy, Bill.

we need some star potential IMO. Don't really care about what position....but seems like we are all set with Combo guards...Smart, Bradley, Rozier. add IT to the mix and I don't really want another small guard. I would be OK with a legit 2 guard with some length and shooting potential :) maybe Hunter develops. a Big with defensive upside and a scoring small forward seem like our biggest needs.

anyway I think we are still in best player available drafting mode, no matter the position

Between Hoop Summit & UK's 2 NCAA games vs turds, Skal has 0 asts, 8 TOVs, 16 rebs, 1 stl in 78 mins. Models are going to like Simmons more @deanondraft

Also I am going to like Simmons more too. Skal can block shots and his stroke sure looks smooth, but I don't buy him as a top 3 pick @deanondraft

@juicelogan @deanondraft Blackhole in the post. So many times he's not even scanning the court, just looking at the ball while the double comes.

Dean on draft, busting my hopes and dreams about Skal.

@deanondraft Ingram's 78 NCAA/Hoop Summit mins: 48 pts 12/18 2PA, 5/16 3PA, 4 assts 2 TOVs, 4 stls, 4 blks. Only 13 rebs though.

@deanondraft Scoring stats come with grain of salt vs weak comp, but he can get shots off without turning it over and he can rack up stocks w length

With a name like Diamond Stone, he almost seems destined to be good. Quite the moniker.

he has always had those powerful legs.
the thing with Allen is how much he can improve in terms of IQ and running a team, defense could be an issue but he is really skilled.
He is a good bet to go lotto, reminds me of Bob Sura.

He is not built like Love, not even current Love, he is weaker and more agile, he looks a bit like Singler did in Duke to me, a bit like Dirk, but smaller and less athletic.

If he lived in the 70s or 80s he could have had a future in the porn industry as well.
hopefully he makes it in NBA....
