Some team will make him the 15th guy and ship him to the G-League if we don’t. He’s not going unclaimed.

He did just go unclaimed nobody drafted him and we were the only ones offering him any money after the draft. I don't think a handful of summer league games is going to change what 4 years of college told front offices.

What does an NBA team make on the ticket sales of its G league franchise? My guess is less than a million dollars they probably lose money in general so it isn't worth spending a million dollars and a NBA roster spot on. Two way contract maybe and certainly a G league contract.

Honestly if teams were motivated to sell G League tickets then teams would send their lottery picks and first rounders there to start the season if they didn't have rotation mins and they would start the season earlier.

Teams are definitely not making any money in the G-leauge. I'm sure Tacko would generate a little buzz for his first game or something, though and maybe they'd have the first sellout in G-League history. And as far as I'm aware, the Celtics don't even own the Red Claws or the arena in which they play. I'm with you on Tacko. He looks better than I thought running the floor, but any NBA team would just attack him defensively and get him into foul trouble immediately, or just foul him every time he touched it in the paint. But he looks good against a bunch of 6 foot scoring guards who will be in some euro league in two months. Maybe some other team would pick him up, but pretty embarrassing if it took 30 minutes of summer league action to sway you when you had 4 years of UCF tape to look at.

I agree that Tacko has a long ways to go but I am very impressed with how much he has improved since the end of the college season. For example, on his second dunk last night, he caught the ball high, turned and dunked it without bringing down. At UCF he probably would have brought it down first and got stripped. He has also been running the floor really well until the last part of last nights game as he was noticeably winded.

Which reporter had the claim that the C's had told him they would sign him after SL? (He's already on an Exhibit 10.)

If he's exhibit 10 he's already a two way contract unless we cut him. 15 man vs 2 way may be more important with regard to resigning next year. Probably replaces Strus vs takes Yabus spot.

Was happy to draft Tacko with the late first rounder a year ago, but he took his name out of the draft and the Celtics got a great center prospect anyway.

If he is the 15th roster spot, that would be swell.

The Celtics did complicate things, giving two two-ways to guards already and signing the Perrier guy to bottle up the paint as a 7-footer.

With Yabu gone with money, looks like the Celtics can't make a big trade to clear more roster room.

Tacko has only 1 less assist per summer game than C Edwards.

Can't the 15th spot go to Waters leaving the 2nd 2 way for Tacko? This would still let him play some NBA games for us.

Could but seems like they've already settled on Waters as a 2 way. Maybe if Waters beats out Wanamaker in camp, they put him on the 15 and Tacko gets his 2 way spot.

Here comes a player with unique advantages and a fan favorite and FO is playing mind games. If this was on another team, they'd probably snatch him two days ago after his showing in summer league. I don't know if he is deserving of the 15th spot because i know he is raw but we have been through worse lineups before and here comes a guy with a possible luxury this team never had. what harm would it be to take a risk on a possible game changer player? If he doesn't pan out, there is not much to regret. But if he does and we let him go to another team, I'd be royally pissed.

There are no mind games going on. They have his rights for the time being and don't have to do anything until training camp if they want to keep him. Other than appeasing impatient fans (myself included), there is no reason to sign him up now.

So why should we sign him right this moment again?

But doesn't the Ex. 10 make him an UFA in 2 years? If they really believed, could they not give him a longer guaranteed contract now , with a couple of team options? I guess they could still have Bird rights anyway? I suppose it is possible his agent turned that down with all the hype, but that seems unlikely.

Because I want to order my Tacko jersey from the ProShop.

I didn't realize Bulpett could be that funny.

Tacko is cheered wildly whenever he rises to enter a game. Celtic teammates who fail to pass him the ball get booed. Pity coach Morrison. Every time he removes him from the court, he instantly becomes the most hated man in this city.

And Bill Laimbeer lives here.

You can't teach size and Tacko isn't a stiff. Wouldn't surprise me if he's NBA All-Rookie First team.

That would greatly surprise me, if you mean this year. As big as he is, guys can go around him too easily. And while I'm hopeful he'll learn to stop that -- or at least slow it down enough to make him the central part (as it were) of a great defense -- I don't think it will be fixed that quickly.

Tacko at 77% FG% in Summer League.

He stepped up a level from college basketball and is shooting very well.

C Edwards and J Green only other Celtics over 50% from the field.

Small sample sizes, of course.

Waters and Strus, on slightly bigger contracts than Tacko with the Celtics, both chucking away at 36% from the field.

To give you a bigger samples size on that FG%... Tacko shattered the NCAA record for career FG% at 74%. So that isn’t a fluke for him...
