Some team will make him the 15th guy and ship him to the G-League if we don’t. He’s not going unclaimed.
He did just go unclaimed nobody drafted him and we were the only ones offering him any money after the draft. I don't think a handful of summer league games is going to change what 4 years of college told front offices.
What does an NBA team make on the ticket sales of its G league franchise? My guess is less than a million dollars they probably lose money in general so it isn't worth spending a million dollars and a NBA roster spot on. Two way contract maybe and certainly a G league contract.
Honestly if teams were motivated to sell G League tickets then teams would send their lottery picks and first rounders there to start the season if they didn't have rotation mins and they would start the season earlier.
Teams are definitely not making any money in the G-leauge. I'm sure Tacko would generate a little buzz for his first game or something, though and maybe they'd have the first sellout in G-League history. And as far as I'm aware, the Celtics don't even own the Red Claws or the arena in which they play. I'm with you on Tacko. He looks better than I thought running the floor, but any NBA team would just attack him defensively and get him into foul trouble immediately, or just foul him every time he touched it in the paint. But he looks good against a bunch of 6 foot scoring guards who will be in some euro league in two months. Maybe some other team would pick him up, but pretty embarrassing if it took 30 minutes of summer league action to sway you when you had 4 years of UCF tape to look at.
I agree that Tacko has a long ways to go but I am very impressed with how much he has improved since the end of the college season. For example, on his second dunk last night, he caught the ball high, turned and dunked it without bringing down. At UCF he probably would have brought it down first and got stripped. He has also been running the floor really well until the last part of last nights game as he was noticeably winded.
