This guy is a high-level player. People been complaining for three years about Matheyse Thybulle. Give me a break. I take Williams any day of the week. He's a terrific role player, bench big an a versatile defender who doesn't make mistakes.

I have no idea why Carsen Edwards' shooting didn't translate. But, another iwn for Ainge. He missed on Nesmith and Langford. That's what hurts. But he hit on Grant and PP.

Not that this is too important but Carsen Edwards wasn't a great shooter in college either. His average was .368 which would be about average/slightly above in the pros. With his size he was going to need to be a 40% shooter to have a consistent job.

Nesmith deserves a little more time but he has to show up next year. He's not going to stay in the league at this rate. His shooting from college to pros concerns me in that it was a small sample size. He needs consistent minutes that aren't easy to get on a team like this, he's gotta earn it. We will see if he does next year. I want him to work out badly.

I agree with Nesmith needs to show up etc.. But I have always said Nesmith needs a real chance. Not the crap Ime has been giving him.

Just look at PP's numbers as a 3rd string, play sometimes, play NOT sometimes player vs being in the rotation every night at a somewhat steady rotation player. It's like a 20% increase in %.

Look what happened when Grant stopped trading minutes with Semi. (though Grant did come in much better shape this year)

*If Nesmith gets a Steady diet of playing time I expect his numbers to shoot up. If not, no problem, move on.

I've always loved Grant. Don't think I've said a bad word about him. I even made a thread about him on the GB a few months ago, which, I never make Celtics threads on the GB. Go me.

Hello. My sources have confirmed grant will be tendered his extention within 90 days. This is good.

He is already much better offensive player than Tucker ever was but defensively he has been the biggest revelation. Never expected him to be so good against guys like Durant and Giannis, the premium players in the NBA.

Now, I am just worried he will command too much money... What do you guys think would be a fair extension for him in the summer?

I am hoping other teams don't value him as much as we do. But it only takes on to jack up his price. Flip side is he is not a starter and perhaps we can get him for 4 years at 50 million neighborhood.

If another team signs him it will be similiar to Big Baby Davis when he was traded to Orlando then signed an extension. A low level team will over pay and try to get too much out of him. He is a perfect role player and i think hes valued right around what you said, 4 yrs 45-50 million.

I see him more of a James Posey type. He can do more offensively than Tucker. Diaw is an interesting comparison though.

as of today, Grant Williams has the highest career playoff 3pt% in NBA history (56%) and it's not even close:

Grant has never shot below 50% from three over an entire playoff run.

Wow. He has been very impressive. Good thing about his 3 ball is if it's not falling he can totally fall on his all nba(yeah i said it) defense. A definite keeper and should be a top option as Al's replacement. But then it becomes who becomes Grant's replacement? Things that make you go...

Only so many minutes to go around though. Grant taking minutes from Semi, no issue, there was a step up for the team and a logical path for Grant to get more minutes on merit. However, who do you see Nesmith taking minutes from? Injury absence excluded.

There’s going to be some weight incentives in there, but I’d bet closer to 4/62. With the way the cap is expected to rise, it’s a no brainer, especially with him being so durable.

His off the dribble game is starting to become a real weapon, he just keeps adding things to his game.

Grant is getting a lot of buzz. If he hits the open market there will be a lot of competetion for his services, perhaps unless the awkwardness of signing an RFA really holds things down that year. The two media examples I'm currently thinking of are Stan van Gundy and Sam Quinn, but there are plenty of others too.

Basically -- and much faster than even the optimists predicted -- Grant has become one of the top 3&D players in the league. He now excels at 3s, not just from the corner, and supports them by attacking closeouts pretty well. He's at least "good" at defending many sizes and kinds of player, and is elite at bothering elite bigs.

Full MLE money is surely the minimum. Grant can surely get that elsewhere.

However, he can't necessarily get it on a team as good or enjoyable to be part of as the Celtics. So how far the Celtics have to go over that, especially with Grant getting his guaranteed contract a year earlier than he otherwise might, is less clear.
