I'm still waiting for something rock solid that Ainge, Zarren and Stevens went to LA. I have heard it from multiple people now though, which leads me to believe that it did/is happen(ing).

If they are in LA, I would assume it is something related to Griffin or Westbrook, but it could be something entirely different.

The gambit is that the likelihood of each agreeing to favorable contract terms - option for Griffin only costs 800K after kicker, Westbrook takes a haircut on a 1 year extension with more upfront this year. The chances of this increase when you are pitching them collectively.

The likelihood of having enough space after the deals, if they got both guys, to extend both now (ala HOU and Harden) is pretty small. They won't really have the money to pull that off. Especially with Westbrook who is pretty far off his max amount.

I meant westbrooks 1 year extension posted by bfb. Can he do that with Boston ? And I assume bfb meant Griffin would accept opting in to next years player option.

Thats absolutely the minimum asking price for Russ. Dude is a top 5 player in this league and could very easily be the best player in the league next season (so can 3 or other 4 players). I dont think Boston should trade a bunch for him, but I also dont think OKC should ever ever sell him cheap. That guy is wayyy too good.

I couldn't really speak for him, but I think he was just trying to see if the numbers can be worked out. It doesn't necessarily mean he would do the deals. Maybe some other scenario exists where we come out with both Russ and Blake without giving up that much.

Personally, i'm on the side of just standing pat and see what we have with our current roster esp. if trades for these big names will cost us our top assets.
