Do you read this forum regularly? I am anti Gallo personified. It's practically become a meme on here. Assumed people would know it's green font. He doesn't suck though, just not what we need at the price he will cost.

The trade market is dry, empty and lonely :P

I don´t think Danny will make any significant move until February

Yea, hope springs eternal in August / September - have to be patient until November at the earliest most likely

Can we have a Nerlens Noel rumours thread ?

I'm watching some of the clips and he's just what we need. Shot blocker, rim protector, catching lobs, can run the floor very well, would be perfect for this team.

If he comes cheap i'm all for it.

Hometown Discount? The Max sucks. There should be a performance scale. No way is a player that ranked as the 11th best center in the East last season worth the max unless he really steps his game up this year.

Market definitely frozen right now. Gay for Rubio seems most likely, it makes the most sense. That still leaves Philly's bigs, it leaves us wanting a rebounder, and there's the off chance that Butler, Griffin or Cousins shakes loose. Faried has been mentioned a couple of times. We like Gallo. There's Greg Monroe. You might feel out the Grizzlies on Marc Gasol. Alex Len is still a name I like, but would probably take the BKN 18 for logistical reasons.

Other team to watch is Indiana. Bird always makes idiosyncratic moves, we need scoring. Monta Ellis is a complicated player, but can create offense, only 30, under contract on good money by new-NBA standards for another 3 years. The kind of guy Sacramento or Cleveland might want if they're dealing you a big.

Bradley for Ellis tilts too much in our favor, so it's hard to even the scales- would they give up Myles Turner? A 1st-rounder? Do they want Jerebko, Tyler Zeller? Something might be workable.

Wait, Bradley for Ellis is too good for us? I don't think the Cs would do that deal.

I think they meant to much in our favor as far as who is giving the most value. Hence the additions suggested afterwards. Myles Turner would be really tough to pry from them. He is good.

Yeah, sorry, I meant that it tilts too much in Indiana's favor. If we did something like Jonas/filler for Monta, I think he'd be a rental we'd look to move by the deadline.

The only benefit we may see is that Horford should theoretically be in position with defensive rotations unlike Sully so maybe the other players on the team see a rebounding uptick as a result. Either way, though, it's definitely a weakness for this team I am very worried about.

There's no easy fix, either. We'll have to see how the trade market develops, but centers who can rebound and defend are locked up. Nurkic, Noel, and Len are the only ones I'd try to get. The price is probably too high. Do we wait again on Cousins?

The other option is to put Horford at the 5 again and find a rebounding 4. Unless it's a resurgent Kevin Love, it's going to do too much damage to our cap flexibility.

We need to get away from numerical monikers when discussing this team because obviously Stevens already has. What we need is to find another Horford, be it internally (ie. natural progression of Kelly O) or through the draft with Giles hopefully, or through Free Agency (Blake, DMC). There is no 5. There is no 4 here. There will be enough switching on D that any player can and will be asked to guard multiple players. The rebounding point however is important. We are gonna need to gang rebound like we never have before. Even Noel isn't a great rebounder but he is a terrific team defender.

This is a big year for both Smart and Kelly. The decision not resign Kelly after the season IMO was a shot across his bow. Kelly it's time for you to step up and be a consistent performer or we will have no reason to resign you. I think honestly, the preference is for Kelly to prove that he can be counted on as a consistent starter. If he can, they won't need to resign Amir and Jonas. For Smart, he has to step up and show that he can run the show if necessary when IT goes to the bench. He'll have the opportunity for extension after this season too I believe. IT and AB can be renegotiated after this season. I think it's in the bank that they will for IT. But AB, I'm not so sure they can hang on to him and sign whomever else to take the next step. Plus they have Smart, Rozier, and RJ waiting in the wings. Hell if Gerald does a nice job I can see him being a cheaper resign. And Brown obviously waiting in the wings. The opportunity to use the best young perimeter defender in the league as a trade chip doesn't get more obvious.
and that's "MR. Irrelevant" to you!!

Has it been too long for a bring Sheed and AI out of retirement rumor?

Brown, Jackson, Bentil can be traded on the 26th, not saying I want Brown traded, just something to keep in mind.

Jackson and Bentil makes roughly 2 million combined and Bentil has a partially guaranteed deal.

Those and Holland, Young, Hunter, Mickey are trade fillers. If Sixers want a guard they can pick between Jackson, Rozier. I like Rozier though and Jackson could be good down the line but if I had to pick I am parting ways with Jackson.

So either Jackson or Rozier, in addition to Young and one of Mickey, Hunter plus Holland and Minnys 2nd for Noel.

Another option is to keep Mickey and trade Bentil instead.

Jackson, Mickey, Young, Holland, Min 2nd for Noel

Jackson, Bentil, Young, Holland, Min 2nd for Noel

In both proposals I kept Hunter because we lack shooting in the backcourt.

There's noway either of those proposals happen unless BC has taken it to the next lvl. Could see Rozier and Mickey for Noel, although I'd think people will want to see more Rozier first. Holland, Young, and Bentil have almost no value.

Stop. Philly does not need or want a 4-1 special. They have roster issues too. Rozier + a future #1 is the only trade I see that might make sense for both sides.
