There’s a very limited group of players that could be or are available that would warrant trading Jaylen Brown.

He had a stinker today and had his fair share throughout the playoffs, as did the entire squad. But I would rather add pieces to Brown and Tatum than take him away.

Coaching and scoring in the lane / post are what we need to add aka not jacking threes all day.

Yeah but one player who's available is a perfect fit, aka Siakam. He's a perfect fit basketball wise (gives us length, interior defense, and interior scoring) and perfect fit contract wise (also in a contract year next season).

Except he's an even worse player than Brown and older.

Siakam like Brown is a decent volume scorer at poor efficiency who likes to jack up midrange shots. But unlike Brown Siakam takes care of the ball, passes well, and has size and elite defense. He is at worst even with Jaylen Brown except his skills fit us better and is better for winning.

Jaylen Brown and Pritchard to Portland. Jaylen goes to the Epicenter of the Woke Movement, Pritchard returns to Oregon to become the star he was destined to be.

#3, Simons and filler to Toroto. They start their retooling around Barnes. Simons gives them a guy who can create off the bounce. They don't mind drafting Miller since maybe being outside the country will help him beat the murder rap.

Siakam to Boston. Maybe add a pick or something. Add length and defense to the front court. Longterm Horford replacement as a good defending, good passing, decent scoring forward who can fill in at Center. Career .774 free throw % suggests he can be Horford/Brook Lopez level as a three point shooting big.

I come in peace don't ban me lol. Reading through this thread I'm surprised you guys would want Siakam. To me that seems like a lateral move than progressive. You could argue that's it's a slight downgrade because Brown is a much better 3 point shooter (siakam 32.7% career 3 vs brown 36.5%). I don't think Siakam would move the needle for you guys. You're better off extending Brown and wait for the next disgruntled superstar to become available (Dame? Kawhi?)

He's atrocious defensively, super undersized for his position and not athletic enough to make up for it.

There's some truth there but Brown has more value, and for at least next year, is more affordable.

I'm ready to move on from Brown. With the large payday looming and the fact that he just doesn't have 'it' I think it's time for Brad to make the move.

Ill drop my trade idea that Ive said multiple times. I think Ingram could be a nice addition. His handles is far better than Tatum or Brown. He's also a much more natural playmaker. I also trust his shot making as well.

There isn't any middle ground. He's either re-signing for the Super Max or leaving, one way or another.

The most interesting trade is Brown + X for Morant.

BOS immediately gets a Superstar in Tatum's age range and MEM gets a 2nd Team All NBA for a player who could theoretically be 1 major incident away from a lifetime ban or wouldn't be shocking if he ws behind bars in 2 years.

These kinds of trades rarely happen though because it would be too risky for each GM. If Morant turns things around after a trade the GM is fired and never works again. If Morant gets traded and continues to have incidents, Brown is lost fir nothing and the team is set back 5-10 years.

Memphis is trading their star on a long term deal for a guy on an expiring who isn't going to re-sign before FA? No way.

A long term deal on a player who could end up in Jail or be banned from the league if he doesn't change is far from a positive. Obviously, no team would trade for him without agreeing to a next deal with him/getting assurances.

An all star and 1st team defender for JB? I’d do it but the championship window would be small with a 33 year old Derozan.

Would try to get derozan from chicago maybe pritchard grant and picks for him. It would give us another scorer, and a guy who used to closing plus scores in a different way than the rest of the team

I love him as a player, but I think the time has come to trade Marcus Smart.

I really do think he's made great strides as a PG the last few years. It does feel like ever game he makes a few mind numbingly bad/over aggressive passes on attempted alley-oops or backdoor cuts that just stop the camera entirely but I think he's a very good passer actually. As a ball handler you need to be aggressive enough looking for your shot that teams will play up on you, but if you're not a scorer you've got to rein that in... I think he's done a solid job of making strides there. I think he's made himself into a good, solid floor general PG type.

I have issues with his fit on this team both offensively and defensively though...

Offense. Championship offense needs to run through your best player(s). For us, that's Tatum and, to a lesser extent, Brown. Many want a better "true PG" or something, but unless that's an elite player it won't matter. Crunch time, big money moments need to run through your best players. And the problem with Smart is that in those moments where the ball has to go through them, he's a liability on offense. He's become a good on ball player, but when he does not have the ball in his hand he is not helping your offense. He's making it harder on whoever does have the ball.

Defensively, he's still great, but he's guard sized and so is Derrick White. Our defensive identity became tougher to maintain because it was built on switching and that's harder to do with 2 guard sized players out there.

In an ideal world, I'd love to trade him (plus draft picks) for OG Anunoby or Myles Turner. Dorian Finney probably a realistic option as well, though we shouldn't need to add picks,
