Time to throw most of it out.

70% chance the team gets horribly worse this offseason, 20% chance the team stays around the same level, 10% chance the team improves.

Of course, the Lakers had less than 10% chance for the draft lottery so one can hope Boston fixes things over the next month and a bit.

That the front office, and the coach and the low-IQ assistant coaches, can't add up minutes and then figure out the roster is going to be a mess, and an angry and unwatchable mess, shows the front office needs to get the broom to them by ownership.

The team, like the Lakers, was built to fail, and did. Anyone could see the Lakers were the wrong fit, no shooting, and anyone could see the Celtics had too many non-stars who thought they were stars and had to not only play all the time but shoot all the time.

8 Celtics can be free agents this offseason, 7 or 8 will be. That is bad roster construction. Keeping players that you know won't be around, instead of trading them for some value, a huge failure.

If Irving walks, 85% chance of that, the team is done. The team would have also been done if I Thomas was kept around with a max contract, so don't mention him. If Irving stays, maybe he plays more with the team when the extra-bad parts of the team aren't on the roster next season, or at least the Celtics can do a Clippers and move him like they did with Blake. Looking at the two trades, Blake to Detroit and Tobias and Boban to 76ers, the Clippers turned Blake into 4 first rounders.

The first thing to do this offseason, get rid of all players who shot under 45% from the field.

Tatum led the Celtics in Defensive Win Shares, just so everyone knows.

How much value would the Lakers add to get Jaylen Brown? Lonzo/4? Lonzo/Ingram? Brown/MEM for Lonzo/4?

Smart/Tatum/Yabu/Ojeleye for Davis, Brown for Lonzo/Ingram, keep Kyrie, draft at 14, 20, 22.. keep Morris.. keep one of Baynes/Theis..tax-MLE Beverley..

Lonzo/Kyrie/Hayward/Davis/Horford, Beverley, draft pick, Ingram, Morris, Baynes off the bench.. Williams, draft pick, draft pick..

That's a senseless, arbitrary figure in the modern NBA. Mook and Smart shot .447 and .422 from the field respectively -- but they both clocked in with a .568 TS%. That is exactly Paul Pierce's career average, for those keeping score at home.

Please post trade subjects in the Trade Thread.
Let's keep this as a Celtics General Offseason Thread.

Trying to figure this out.

Horford, to me, has a lot of say too. If I am Ainge, and Horford opts in. I include him in an AD trade.

If Horford opts out, he has to wait and see what our team looks like. Hate to lose him for nothing, but a Horford opt out, Kyrie leaves allows us the opportunity to reset.

We got a lot of ways this team can go.

Oh I agree but that isn’t gonna be a move Cs make going into recruitment of Kyrie to come back. If Kyrie leaves Boston what are his legitimate options.....Knick’s,Nets and Lakers. If so we could potentially make a deal to one of those teams for a sign and trade of a small piece back

Kyrie shouldn't factor into any offseason plans. Hes gone. Done. 100 percent out the door. The quicker we all accept that as fact the better off we will all be. Perk would be a solid voice for a team that needs it.

I honestly don’t know why you think this is so funny it’s hard to breathe. I’m not being sarcastic . Do you laugh hard because you’re so sure Kyrie is coming back? I know some posters were laughing at others earlier in the year for believing he will leave.

We had talent but chemistry issues prevented things from coming together. Whether we resign Kyrie and trade for AD or Kyrie walks and we make a few trades a different more balanced roster I think will smooth things out.

And if the last two seasons have taught us anything it's that big time players with big time egos are going to demand trades and teams are going to be forced to accept pennies on the dollars. And we still have the resources to be players when those opportunities arise.

How can we generally discuss the off season without discussing trades in at least a basic sense? The offseason will be almost purely about trading once again. I don't understand.

Could you tell me list/the specific subjects that are barred from this thread so I know how to proceed?

You're on a roll lately, huh?

Let's not make this particular and/or difficult.
My Description is pretty clear.

Trade Thread = Primarily Trade talk.
General Thread = Everything Celtics, incl. "some" Trade Talk.

I wouldn't have asked if I thought it was clear but I guess that response cleared it up somewhat? So this thread isn't like the all-purpose threads we had in past seasons I take it? That's basically what I assumed given how the thread went for 15 pages and because there is nothing in the OP saying otherwise but, again, I think I understand after your reply:

You are saying that we can't post any mock trades/get into the numbers/trade checker here like Andrew did, but can generally discuss trades and players involved. Is that correct?

And to be fully clear (this was why I asked for a full list too): we can still discuss random Cs related subjects outside of this current Cs team/offseason here, right?

Uh, sure? Thanks? Not quite understanding what you are getting at here. I was just asking a question so I can avoid any confusion in a main offseason thread that we will all use for months. Cheers, brother. CsssssssssssssUP. BruuuuusssssCUP.

Q: So this thread isn't like the all-purpose threads we had in past seasons I take it?

A: Yes, this Thread should be like the Offseason Threads of the Past.
I'm just trying to Nudge the majority of the Trade Talk, over to the Trade Thread.

We just haven't had so much Trade Talk, probably since the KG-Allen Trades.

You know, you got a really good point.
It's probably better, if we just keep one Thread?

The Trade Thread is at 100 pages.
So let's continue Everything here, and change this one to something like?:

Give us AD thread #7 please!

I just want it to be really clear where I can click to get my AD fix.

I mean **** him and his Loony Tunes shirt but I've lusted for years for this -- it's gonna be hard to sift through summer-camps-for-kids posts for that quick scan of which way the pundits say the winds are blowing at any given moment.

Its Lakers or Knicks for Kyrie. If KD stays or goes to the Clippers then Kyrie is a for sure a Laker. Boston cant compete with those endorsements and nightlife. Kyrie is the star player who people used as the stereotype of why Boston can't land a star player. Now it seems like the league is heading back to big markets because of endorsements, movies, and shoe deals.

I'm glad this is a fact now even though it's 36 days till it can even happen and Kyrie himself hasn't said a thing.

Kyrie has one of the most popular signature lines, already had a movie, and does all the endorsements he wants while not living in LA or NY.

Not sure he is missing out on not having the Bay Ridge Honda sponsorship
