Williams played 61 games so far. He's only good for a certain amount of games before he breaks down or gets injured. Unfortunately he's been on borrowed time for a few weeks.

Regardless huge blow and hopefully he can come back for the playoffs because I don't exactly know what several weeks entails

I would be shocked if he's back by the playoffs, knowing Rob he's probably done for the season

Lonzo Ball's been out for the season with the same injury.

This sucks man. This team can never catch a break

I have a feeling this injury is going to take the wind out of the sails. Assuming Rob is done for the season, I think our momentum for the remainder of the regular season is going into slow down dramatically, and will flame out in the second round.

However if he comes back in the second round, we may be a good shape.

Meh. He makes us a lot better, but I do t think he lowers the ,ceiling. Theis can fill in and be 80% of rob. Horford plays more 5 with grant playing more. Sucks.

Kornet gotta dust off the cobwebs.

i'm not sure they will play kornet very much. with rob out, they could just roll with al/theis/grant up front and also play tatum more mins at the 4. We could go with an 8 man rotation, but more than likely we rotate 9 guys and the 9th guy is Nesmith rather than kornet. Now Kornet just has a higher chance of seeing emergency backup big man minutes. The guys who will lilely see more mins now are theis, grant and nesmith..

That’s wishful thinking. Rob doesn’t play with even some minor aches and pains. Probably towards the end of the conf finals, if lucky. Then you don’t know how effective he can be being out that long. We need to get some bigs that can help guard or at least body up the likes of embiid and giannis.

Of course - like I said that is the optimist end. The pessimist end is he's on crutches all summer and he is ready for training camp.

Getting a big like a javale type should be a priority this summer. I don’t trust Rob getting healthy ever. Wish we had some back up bigs like Sengun, yurtseven, hayes, hartenstein.

I didn't want to say that and risk being negative but honestly you're probably correct considering how much of his game is based on alley oops rebounds and blocked shots.

Justifiably the Celtics aren't going to risk making the injury worse.

First time I comment on a GT in months last game, and this happens. Guess it's for the best I stay incognito the rest of the year. Hopefully Theis can get back to his level of play in the bubble.

This is Rob's biggest problem and one that I think that we'll have to deal with for a long time, unfortunately.

Not sure if its not best to trade him while his value is high, i really dont trust his durability, hopefully im wrong.

What a crushing blow.

Hopefully he is back for the second round.

80% of anyone in the playoffs is a HUGE downgrade. You're only as strong as your weakest link, especially on D, and Theis is gonna get picked on mercilessly against top lineups.

Do I think we can beat someone like Charlotte or Atlanta without Rob, or even Toronto / Cleveland / Chicago? For sure.

Do I think we can beat the Nets, Bucks, Heat or Sixers without him? No way.

we made it to the ECF with Theis as our starting center in 2020. only reason we lost to heat in ECF was kemba and hayward were both injured. and we didn't get home court advantage like we should have as higher seed, cause it was in bubble. and that 2020 team would have definitely beaten miami if we had horford.

Can't do that, we need you to suit up at center.

Damn! If Theis starts then we are toast. Still have nightmares of Bam dunking all over Theis on consecutive plays. At least we still have Al, but need to limit his minutes as well.

discussing every day whether rob is DPOY, now all of a sudden, "we'll be fine"...

make it make sense!

Rob is a huge part of what we do and surprisingly I'm not just talking about defense.

I'm at level DESPAIR already.

Sounds like it's possible he returns in 4-6 weeks. Tough part about Rob's durability is he's had a lot of random injuries. Not sure it can even really be narrowed to one body part.

Kind of wish we just shut our starters down and settled for the 5 seed.

If it’s an iron man like giannis, probably 4-6 weeks is possible. With glass man Rob, probably 10-12 weeks.

4-6 weeks.

To get granular, the actual playoffs don't start until April 16th (play in games are 12th to 15th).

First round goes 2 weeks, until May 2nd/3rd per the league schedule. So if he's got a less severe tear, heals quickly, and the Cs can get through the 1st round, it's possible he can come back for the start of the 2nd round.

The biggest thing about a meniscus tear is the pain. You can actually play through it if you manage swelling and pain, but it is a MFer. That's why a lot of vets decide to trim or remove it entirely.

Knowing it's the playoffs, I'd bet on Rob trying to gut through it sooner than a typical timetable, but I would not expect him in Rd 1.

ok. let's take care of business in round 1 and hopefully get him back for round 2.

Maybe he comes back in round 2 but only playing no more than like 20-25 mins a game. that would be ok. Plus, there's no back to backs in the playoffs..
