No deals are happening now so it doesn't make sense for a pragmatist like Brad to have made his mind up now. Just let the situation play out and when he has to make a decision, he will. It's surprisingly uncomplicated. What's the point of having your mind made up during a time when it doesn't matter? If a deal comes, then he'll consider it.

Bingo. I still believe this was an A++ trade from ol' Brad given the circumstance we were in.

Numerous Blazer fans were certainly right on letting us know what to expect on the Simons experience, but it's certainly entertaining when he gets hot.

I just wish it were possible to have a real life preview of what he could really look like when sharing the floor with defenses smothering JT, which we're not going to see before the trade deadline so I'm apprehensive on prematurely moving him.

bumping these quality posts.
Simons has hit 21-for-31 from the floor over the last 3 games.
No reason not to keep developing him here, take any helpful offer IF it appears (unlikely, but I'm sure Brad will keep phone lines open) and then consider trying to resign him for MLE $ next summer.

You get it.

Tatum, Brown, White, Simons, Prichard, Hauser..this has the potential to be the most explosive offense the league has ever seen - with multiple all-defense caliber players.

I want to at least see what Simons looks like with a healthy Tatum and on a Celtics team that is actually competing for a something meaningful.

He's 26..players typically peak around age 28-31. His best is yet to come..

Yeah I'm a fan. JT makes Simons a threat outside or cutting. Basically at all times lol.

I am not entirely opposed to trading Simons, but I do not regard him to be trash, as you seem to feel. If a trade can be made that will improve our team, and get us tax relief, I would make the trade. If not, I am content to ride out the season with Anfernee. His defense, while not his strong suit, is not as awful as I was led to believe, and he is clearly an asset on offense. At years end, we can let him walk, removing his $27 million from our payroll, and getting us under the apron. Alternatively, we might be able to re-sign him for more reasonable dollars, and that would not be a bad thing IMO. In the meantime, he is contributing to our success, and giving us no reason to move him precipitously.

I don't get the allure of the hater. You can cheer for Simons, criticize Simons, propose trades for Simons, whatever, it's to be expected. But why can't you do it respectfully? It really drags the board down.

He’s great as a rotation guard, bench gunner, will fit well with Tatum. He not worth 27.6 million per year obviously. I don’t mind keeping him if we could resign him for appropriate money.

LOL Simons didn't have a point last night until the Celtics are up 20. Then he caught fire. Great garbage time player. But if padding his stats makes him more tradable I'm all for it.

Not against the rules, but the constant negativity is tiresome. You have been going on about Anfernee Simons since we acquired him, always negative. Have you seen nothing positive in what he brings to the Celtics?

Nothing he has done has made me change my mind.

He is an inefficient scorer, porous defender who best attribute is his expiring contract.

It's easy to understand how he gets a bum rap. He's the new guy, kind of an outsider vibe given questions about his future role, he's not a strong defender (though he's been making a serious effort imo and is being misrepresented). He hasn't been in a winning environment for a long time.

But he's a 26 year old who literally bet on his game and played himself into the league. That's a serious gamer. And after that journey he ends in a Celtics uniform, which happens to be a dream of many ball players around the country who understand the gravity of our franchise. He gets a Celtics jersey, a Celtics locker, a Celtics paycheck. And after all that we're gonna hate on him?

He goes from first option to fourth option, a rare demotion, a crazy adjustment, and he's still expected to get buckets on demand. Mazzulla isn't respecting his rhythm whatsoever. It almost feels like we're nerfing his value on purpose to dangle that MLE lol.

But he's our guy for now and cheering for him should come naturally for a fan. It's the whole point of fans. I think he's doing ok. Looking at his past season numbers he could be our greatest weapon in the clutch imo. Instead, we hardly even go to him in the clutch. The guy who took less than a dozen games to get a franchise record for points scored in a half off the bench lol. And you know what's funny about that? He's broken that mark at least 6 times previously for Portland as a starter. But we sat him lol. In front of his hometown fans lol. This dude who once made 13 consecutive tres in a game is barely allowed to shoot twice in a row lol.

I'm rooting for him.

Wrong.

Inefficient scorer? League average TS% is 58. It's closer to like 55 or 56 for guards..and it's also lower for players age 26 and under (the younger the player, the lower the average TS% is).

He's at 58.5 so far this season - it's his FOURTH season where he's been at 58 or higher which is excellent for a guard who's only 26 yrs old. Some guards haven't even been in the league for 4 years by age 26 lol.

His efficiency was also good in Portland considering he had to carry their offense..carrying the offense on a bad team as a young guard..with no one who knew how to coach..his efficiency was awesome when you consider all of those factors..and his efficiency will get even better when Tatum returns and he has looks that are even more open.

As for his defense, he's been solid this season..not great but solid.

Sigh....

Look at more than statistics Hal.

You cannot analyse a basketball player exclusively by those metrics. Period.

He scores a bumch of garbage time point and could not get playing time over walsh and minot.

A 27 million dollar player with 6 years experience couldnt get minutes.

Nothing about simmons is excellent. Nothing.
