I think in the NFL since the recent SB, we are in the official unofficial era of crappy defenses and offenses winning it all. The last great D we saw win it all was probably those Broncos in '15 with a half alive Peyton Manning as the mascot. Most great D's in the NFL are halted at times anyway these days with the rules favoring QBs and passing games.

How cool would it be to have a Patriots/Rams Super Bowl? Full circle from 2001. Brady wins one more how he started. Can we stop them? Who cares, they can't stop the Pats either. Nobody stops anyone anymore, maybe the Ravens or Bears, Khalil mack is a damn beast.....

Who is ready to beat the crap out of the Colts Thursday night with Edelman back?

Looking more like the Spankees and thats baaaaaaad news for the Sox. If the Sox don’t take games 1&2 series is more than likely over in 4. Spankess have what the Sox don’t. Elite power hitters and elite BP arms.

Just not a good matchup.

2015? That's only been 3 years man. Defense is still huge in football. I remember 06 when we went to the SB on the backs of our defense, but it wasn't because of sacks. It was because of takeaways. Lovie was not a great offensive coach, but the dude stressed stressed takeaways every single week. The media always reported on it too. Pretty sure we didn't lead the league or even come close to it in sacks that year. But I'm like 95% sure we led the league in takeaways.

FF to 2018. We're still killing it in sacks - don't get me wrong, they're important. But we're the top or 2nd in takeaways - far more important. I'm just some armchair QB that likes to watch games on Sunday. I think the people who make bank will figure it out very quickly. The ones who don't or are too stubborn will be phased out of the league. Thus is the circle of coaches and coordinators.

Offense has ALWAYS been more important, but a great defense can still get you there, and it's not changing.

I was being a bit silly with that post of mine, I can do that at times and people take me seriously. :droop:

Don't get me wrong, defense is still important in the NFL but I can become relatively unimpressed by the group of D's in recent years in the league. The league easily favors QBs and passing games to the point even average QBs can put up historical games from time to time or win a Super Bowl (looking at you Nick Foles)

2006? I remember that year well. I was in high school and I remember that was the year Deion Branch left and we nearly made the Super Bowl with Reche freaking Caldwell as Brady's #1 weapon. It was a bargain basement offense for the Pats, kinda pissed me off. On the flip side Manning gets to win it all with Marvin Harrison, Reggie Wayne, Dallas Clark and this uber elite offense all around him.

I knew the Bears in that SB would be toast due to Rex Grossman.

Takaways are important, I agree. Thats mainly how the 2009 Saints became champions. They had the rocking balanced offense and a D that gave away globs of yards but was key at getting those big turnovers. This years Rams at times so far look a bit to me like the 2009 Saints. Of course they almost murdered Favre in 2009 too on the Saints but outside of that bounty noise the Vikings really were done due to turnovers.

Bears look like an NFC dark horse though, no doubt.

Hm..is Yankees +1100 (11-1) a good bet for title odds?

I’m afraid its a good bet though. MLB is probably drooling at having the ‘roid boys on the World Series Stage. (Stanton not included in that prior statement).

Oh wow, Adam shanked a FG and you could hear it hit *BOOM*.

I swear he gets spooked playing in Foxboro since he never misses at times anywhere else.

I like. I'll totally bandwagon the Red Sox if they do well, but seeing the Patriots back to being the Patriots does the heart good.

More titles for Tom = Boston sports priority #1, even for this Celtics fan.
