If he gets hurt this year (or just isn't as effective), and they don't offer it to him, he's screwed. Obviously, they're under no obligation to extend him early, and the potential teammate upside is very nice, but it definitely adds risk for Bam.

Isn't that what happened to I.T.?

Unlesss Adebayo has a serious career-altering injury like TJ Ford level I think most teams would offer him a max contract in all likelihood. Pozingis is a worse player who has multiple serious knee injuries and he got the max from Dallas without much issue.

Porzingis is a horrible contract tho... Looks like Heat made this obsolete.

Bam just signed a max contract, identical with Tatum! Good for him. Now they can’t afford Giannis straight up.

Quite Ironic that Simmons was standing next to the soon to be GOAT shooter and he can barely make a 3..

I guess Curry was NOT his inspiration.

Just for the record, it was not identical, as Tatum got a player option on the last year and Bam did not. That's a pretty meaningful difference. Bam and Fox did not get the option, Mitchell and Tatum did. Nice work by the latters' agents...

This is why I can never take the owners seriously when they cry that they're poor during collective bargaining negotiations. They make piss-poor decisions and then punish the players. Sign busts to superstar deals? Let's put in a rookie scale!!! Sign bad players to long-term deals? Let's limit free agent contract length to 4 years!!
