This is the Derrick White that the Celtics wanted to trade for. IMHO, this is the real him. Hope he continues his stellar play.

Agreed - dude just needed some time to get adjusted. Not easy to get thrown onto a new team in the middle of a playoff chase. Get used to new teammates, new coaches, learn the plays, while moving your family across the country - while expecting his first baby.
Nothing wrong with having a different opinion - as long as it's done respectfully. It'd be lame if we all agreed on everything :)

There was a game much earlier in the year when white was playing for the spurs vs the Pistons and I actually watched for fanball and he carved them up. He is a starter quality player. Not elite or sexy, but starter level

Whenever i saw White slander in the game threads in those early PO rounds, i remembered he was coached by Greg 'f***in' Popovich and good things will happen if you keep trusting him.

Are we gonna whine about overpaying? We gave up a late first round pick for him,

Fanbases love draft picks. Boston gave up a pick in the upper 20s for him.

And, don't talk to me about pick swaps. There isn't going to be a swap. Celtics are gonna be in the 20s on that swap. San Antonio will be in the teens.

Is a championship really worth a mid first round pick and an opportunity to tank six years from now? Some might say no.

I am pro-choice but POBO Brad Stevens may want to impose a must-conceive-a-child rule in August upon every single player on the roster.

Haven't seen it anywhere but Derrick White, scoring 21, recorded the 2nd most points in NBA history by a reserve in a Finals debut. Fred Brown of the Seattle Supersonics (30 pts, 1978) still hold the record. Fred Van Vleet scored 15 pts in his debut against the Warriors in 2019.

Things we already knew and are glad the rest of the basketball world is learning now, too:
Read on Twitter

For what it's worth, we knew about Playoff Derrick before Hendrix.

"Hi, I'm Derrick"

I never worried about a pick swap, but was getting very worried about his shooting. Maybe it really had something to do with having Hendrix.
He has come a long way in a short time and is a great teammate.
Brad Stevens on fans who want the Celtics to tank: "I don’t think they’ll like me all that much then."

His shooting is above his career average last few games (at a guess) and well below in his time with us before. Averages are just that, the overall story of the ups and downs.

I personally think if Hendrix has anything to do with it at all, it's more about the constant distraction in Derrick's mind leading up to the birth, worrying about his wife and everything to do in preparation and support etc affecting his performance. Then the child is born, there is love and relief and while there is still mountains of work with a new child, there is a load off his mind.

If we win, then the cost is a no brainer. Even if miss out on 2nd overall in 2028, you pay the price and live with it. If you miss out on a title and you have traded away 2nd overall (worst case scenario) then that is a **** nightmare

Look, he only has to shoot well enough to win us 3 more games in this series and the cost is a moot point after that
