I agree it’s been a pretty good offseason.

I think Simons should be added to the list but we’ll see what happens. A large expiring contract is a good thing to have if you want to make a trade for an impact player. I know there’s been a lot of “reports” about Simons being dumped but there were also reports that bringing Al and Kornet back was a top priority.

The Bucks stretching Lillard to sign Myles Turner to a 4/107 is sort of insane. That means Lillard will be stuck on their books for 5 years at 22 million a year of dead money. Add in the 27 million a year for Turner and the Bucks are effectively paying 49 million a year for Myles Turner. Now granted he's a perfect fit next to Giannis, but that's still insane.

I wonder if the Bucks could be a fit for Simons. A straight swap of Simons for Kuzma saves the C's 5 million dollars this year and would give them a nice 20 million dollar expiring to use as salary matching next year. The Bucks bets perimeter shot creator right now is Kevin Porter Jr.

Deal doesn’t happen without Thompson.

You’re not getting all that for Brown. That’s a package you put together for Giannis or Joker, not Brown. Frankly I’m not sure either Sengun or Thompson are available for trade. Thompson probably is but not Sengun.

Rumors are suggesting Whitmore is available. I'd love to see the Celtics grab him and immediately plug him in at the wing next to Brown. He's a guy who could pop off given some consistent run.

If the Bucks want to throw in multiple 1sts to get off Kuzma's contract then sure!

I wish the Celtics had made some choices when they had the chance.
Whether that would be negotiating with JB, that C's offer something under the 35% supermax
Whether that was C's trade Sam Hauser last summer, get a good asset and let another team extend him
Whether that was choose between Jrue and White, extend one, trade the other
Whether that was offer Jrue a much small per annum extension

The fact that they extended everyone and then announced to the world that they won't be in the 2nd apron another year
was just buffoon level wishful thinking...

you just need to make choices, you can't be everybodys friend and pay everyone a huge check that you simply can not cash
because doing so actually creates more problems than it solves...

Who tf is rico?

We’ve been calling him Rico since he was drafted. Someone said he looks like uncle Rico from Napoleon dynamite, can’t unsee it!

Props to whoever said it! Sorry I can’t recall at the moment.

Two weeks ago everybody wanted to play like Indiana.

Celtics obtain a player who can inject some badly needed youth, athleticism and ability to drive to the backcourt. Things Indy had plenty of and the Celtics lacked.

And now everybody’s in a rush to get rid of said player who we just acquired. Please, for the love of god, keep the guy who can drive the ball. The Celtics are over reliant on the three ball and lack guys who can get to the bucket

Drives per game Boston:
Brown - 12.7
Tatum - 10.3
Pritchard - 5.4
White - 4.8
Holiday - 4.8
Porzingis - 1.5
Horford - 1.1
Hauser - 0.9 (lol)

Drives per game Indy:
McConnell - 11.6
Haliburton - 10.8
Nembhard - 8.4
Mathurin - 7.0
Siakim - 6.2
Nesmith - 3.8
Toppin - 2.3

Quite the difference between the two teams!

Simons - 9.3 drives per game

This is some good data, Midnight.

Interesting: First Baylor last year, then Simons, then Hugo, maybe even Max Shulga all fitting more into that archetype.

Worthwhile swing on Josh Minott -- really toolsy athletic wing -- stocks maestro 3.6 stocks per 36 last year
maybe a little bit of a space cadet though...

But I love the swing

(edit: any word on if yr 2 is a team option or guaranteed?)

Brad stockpiling some affordable, if unexpected, assets. Still a long way to October.

I'm a fan. Love the signing. Wife, son and I all enjoy watching Ant Edwards, plus the wife and I like to do player prop bets on the Wolves who we found to be predictable from a player production standpoint. Anyway, I share this because anytime Minott checked into the game, he seemed to make winning plays, granted it was mainly in garbage time or short stints. Nonetheless, he's an interesting low risk high reward guy. I LIKE it.
It reached a point last season where I was talking about this guy to my wife. I'd say, "watch this guy who's checking in. End of bench young player but I bet within 30 seconds he will do something good." and he would.

Minot would be our 15th player. You can have 15, but only need 14. Signing him to a minimum deal is going to put us back over the 2nd apron. That's obviously not going to fly long term.

They don't need to duck the 2nd apron now, they can wait until the deadline. However, if they choose to structure the Jrue/KP trades as one big transaction though for purposes of generating one Jrue sized TPE rather than 2 separate for the difference between KP/Niang and Jrue/Simons then I think they are hard capped at the 2nd apron which would prevent them from ever executing a move that takes them over. So if they just sign Minot and decide to wait until the deadline to duck the 2nd apron, the single larger TPE would be off the table.

Minot is a 6'8" SF that I guess could play small ball 4. So as for corresponding moves, you'd think a Niang or Hauser salary dump or waiving Walsh would be the logical moves to make room for him under the 2nd apron if they go that route.
