The Buss family has been screwing up for half a decade. The new group at the Clippers look excellent, but haven't accomplished much yet. Brooklyn hasn't even had an ownership change since they were awful. San Francisco and San Antonio aren't options. Etc.

Clippers and Nets are too boring for Kyrie.

Lakers and Knicks are a sewer rat juice heap.

I just watched this on YouTube, what an absolute joy - essential viewing for Celtics fans. There’s something fantastic in watching Kyrie take a genuine interest in hearing the experiences of not just a Celtics legend who epitomised the Celtics pride philosophy (i.e. ignoring stats and playing in a manner which makes the team better, as Cooz espouses in that clip) but also a flashy pioneer of the game, something they kind of have in common. I forgot how audacious some of Bobs shots were!

That’s got me excited to see what Kyrie can do in the playoffs - thanks for sharing.

Well it goes without saying.

https://bleacherreport.com/articles/2830982-celtics-news-danny-ainge-still-wants-to-sign-kyrie-irving-to-long-term-contract

According to SI.com's Chris Mannix, Ainge responded with a "yes" when asked if he wanted to re-sign Irving and with a "no" when asked if anything has happened this season that would make him rethink his stance.

Glad you enjoyed it. My dad had watched these and called me to say it was also a joy for him. Ainge/Smart were hilarious too.

Kyrie respects the Celtics history, thats something I have often gotten from him. Sometimes I think for these guys it can even be overwhelming for them to think about all that came before them in Boston. It's jaw dropping with the history of the Boston Celtics.

Read something during last winter when Bob Cousy apparently said he really enjoyed watching Irving and Westbrook.

Honestly mate, that was like therapy to quell my PMT (playoff matchup tension).

The exchange between Danny and Marcus was heart warming but the discussion between Kyrie and Bob...when was the last time we had such public interaction between a current and past icon? Pierce behind closed doors?

Your old man sounds a bit of a legend btw

Just a reminder that Danny has a tremendous poker face and poker media voice.

Yeah, don't think it's applied here though.

In truth, listening to Cooz talk about how the PG is the artist painting the game, it struck me as very largely untrue for the modern C's. Rondo is the last PG that really did that here. And of course even then PP and KG were part of that vision as well.

But Kyrie, like IT before him, is more just the C's best offensive player. Seeing lots and being creative primarily for his own scoring, though he is capable of fun and impressive assists too. You just seldom get the sense of his getting the most out of his teammates. Hello, JT and JB--there's a reason Kyrie's O flows better when he's got lots of vets out there who know just as well how to complement him in both scoring and advancing the O.

https://www.sbnation.com/2019/4/13/18309335/david-griffin-interview-pelicans-nba-playoffs-2019-preview

SB: What do you expect out of Kyrie Irving in these playoffs, especially now that Marcus Smart is expected to miss a couple rounds? What do you focus on whenever you watch him play, both now and when you both were in Cleveland?

DG: When he was with us, I watched whether or not he avoided screens defensively. I was really locked in his playmaking aspect for others, when he could. Kyrie is a great player who made a transcendent shot in a series, and I’m hoping now that in the environment he’s in, he’s going to rise to the challenge of being a great winner.

I love the kid. I’m a huge, huge Kyrie fan. And I think he’s a truly great player, who will be transcendently good in these playoffs. I think people have not seen him be Kyrie, and what he’s capable of, for a long time, because the pressure and grind of being the front and center voice of a team is one he’s not natively good at doing, and that’s taken away his energy for what he loves to do.

When the playoffs start, you’re going to see Kyrie doing what he loves to do, when winning is the only thing that matters. I think he’ll be a killer.

Kyries out imo. He'll likely let Ainge and the brass know post playoff exit so they can decide how to move from there. I think he feels like hes a bad fit. Rozier will probably stick around on a solid deal and hopefully you all draft bol bol to pair with the other length.

cool.....I find it laughable that Kyrie would leave. He has given no indication that he intends to leave and there is quite a lot to suggest that he will stay

Irving should make All-NBA with his efficient numbers (plus career-highs in several categories) and clutchness despite team not having met expectations.

He certainly gave indications of second thoughts about his preseason proclamation and he has expressed disappointment and discomfort at points through the season.

But he's a mercurial guy and who knows where he (and those it is rumored he wants to play with) will be by the time of actual free agency. That is still a long ways away in NBA and Kyrie time.

He certainly deserves to be in the All NBA 3rd team along with Kemba and i think he'll be in.
I can't imagine people having Ben Simmons over him for example.

LOL. I love Kyrie on court forever and don't care about his perceived mistakes off court this year.

But he pushes my buttons pretty hard with this F.R.I.E.N.D.S stuff, lol. SMH.

Why? There aren't really any good reasons other than “He’s from NY so he wants to play for the Knicks”. KD is from DC and he wants NOTHING to do with playing for the Wiz. Kyrie gets more money in Boston, has a winning team already, can compete for titles, is the MAN, has connections to the city and gets PAID MORE HERE. He’s not going anywhere.

It's not laughable, nor is it likely. It's completely up in the air at the moment. I think he wants to literally wait until the summer, and weigh all his options and meet with teams. He also knows this Celtics team can change, as can other rosters, so it's too early to know what his best situation is. But I do believe he enjoys playing in Boston even if he looks miserable 90% of the time.

But the most telling quote by Kyrie came after he backtracked his "plans to resign". When asked why he made that statement before the season, he said he was caught up in the excitement of the season, the emotion, and was pretty much saying it to appease the fans (in not so many words).
