With Theis and Hayward now gone, I feel compelled to start claiming that Mo Wagner and Evan Fournier look exactly the same. Like, I can’t tell them apart. But I’m just missing the old days when we had the originals and not these cheaper knockoff versions.

I just happy we didn't Lowryvic.

Essentially dumping Theis as an expiring for an another equally expiring player who is worse than Theis, just to save the owner some money is baddddd

This ownership group is in full penny pinch mode

Its to keep us out of the tax, of which we absolutely need to do to avoid triggering the repeater tax.

The reason to duck the tax is pretty obvious as to not trigger the repeater tax this year since they will be in the tax for the near future. Simply crying about that means you're either trolling, just like to argue, like to clown any move and the organization, or simply don't know how this works.

Has nothing to do with ownership being "Cheap". Has zero negative effect on spending going forward. You think they should pay the tax for this team? Get real.

Also, i’m guessing we had some inside info lined up and are going to add a big via buy out

Ainge and the ownership group said two years ago they were ready to start paying the tax. Clearly not.

How can you still defend this? It’s always “next year” with these guys. This group isn’t serious about winning. They care about lining their pockets and being just competitive enough to stay in the playoffs and overachieve to keep the fans base on edge.

There’s a reason Ainge and Wyc have been together since the new ownership group came in. Their business model is working to perfection. Isn’t translating to winning titles though. It’s time for a shake up plain and simple and it needs to start with Ainge going.

I’d be fine getting Olynyk back. Never wanted to see him go. I thought Miami was dumb to overpay for him....he’d be a nice backup and a good compliment next to Rob.

again, it was pretty much 100% to get under the tax.

What's pretty much 100%? Ainge had other choices.
He didn't want to pay what Theis would expect or he'd still be here. He should do more this with role players.

I say pretty much 100% because after the Fournier trade they were over the tax by an amount that was more than Teagues contract, in other words just dropping JUST Teague wouldn't get them out of it. As a result they needed to trade a bigger contract than Teague. But the only guys who make more than him are either hard to trade like Thompson, or young guys with value like Grant, Langford, ect. In other words guys you don't wnat to salary dump. Since is expiring that made dumping him pretty much the only option to get under the tax.

Its pretyy simple right, theis is better than they guys they acquired and both guys are also expiring's so obviously the reason they did it was purely tax motivated.

You're a lot more knowledge about this than me and I totally agree that this and all the maneuverings had to be done, but I was only generally speaking about why Theis was moved. I think Ainge would have kept Theis if he could've ( Theis is a really nice story right) but he saw a better value for a different, more urgent team need. Backfilling much, but not all (yet), of Theis' contribution will come from. Wagner and elsewhere. Just thought it is a Belichick type of move that Ainge doesn’t seem to do too often, when maybe he should.

Not even worth having a legitimate discussion with you about the Celtics but I'll respond to this just to give you the attention you are craving.

I'd take KO back. Upgrade in talent. That's all they can do. I can't imagine LMA or Drummond picking the Celtics over Heat/Lakers/Nets. There is no logic to it.

Here is my issue. Dumb to overpay? Why? We have never replaced him, or Horford, from the C spot.

How about we don’t worry about salary and see if the guy can play or not. We couldn’t sign Kelly O. He was worth the money.

I don’t know. We need to get talent on this roster somehow. Don’t want to dredge up the past but I’m maybe okay where we are (Kemba and Fournier) compared to neither and Hayward? Oh or Terry and Hayward ****. I don’t know. **** this team sometimes you know?
