Assistant #2 confirmed, good job Brad.

This is Great. I just wonder about those Titles.
Sam Cassell is above him on the Coaching Rotation?

I wouldn't worry to much about it. Brad was always someone who was all about empowering the entire team, i think this the same stuff here. Looks like Brad adapated this from modern corporations, a flat hierarchy with multiple strong voices if it works we'll find out next season.

Joe is basically an unofficial assistant again. Let’s **** go. Two respected guys who players will gravitate towards on the bench is huge

Lee being the top assistant means he'll take over if Joe is fired next year

I read it as Lee is above Cassell, which somewhat surprises me, but will wait for elaboration and pontification from Celtics reporters.

I wonder if Jerome Allen can be had too. He was on Casey's staff in Detroit last year

Yeah, sounds like Lee above Cassell. But not sure it really matters that much. I mean, we had Hardy and Mazzulla both as assistants 2 years ago - both are now head coaches, both were finalists for the Jazz job. But they made it work as assistants on the same staff.

Nets had Udoka and D'Antoni as assistants under Nash. No clue which one was "lead" assistant or if it really mattered. Same applies to the spurs when they had Udoka and Becky Hammon both as assistants at the same time..

Seems like these were 2 great hires with Lee and Cassell. Now, let's get Redick to replace Sullivan as shooting coach and we're cooking with gas!
Nothing wrong with having a different opinion - as long as it's done respectfully. It'd be lame if we all agreed on everything :)

Impact on team performance remains to be seen but Cassell and Lee are def steps in the right direction. Nowhere to go but up after the last two seasons.

Would love to know what ground rules or expectations Brad set with Joe about bringing these guys in. Joe got a pass his first season - now there's two potential head coaches sitting next to him. He'd better collaborate, or else he, his bag of unused timeouts, and his monosyllabic press conferences are gone.

Yeah and if the Celtics are successful his resume will get a boost that should push him from finalist for HC jobs to actually becoming a HC so either way he wins.

oh I agree, I don't care, really the only people who should are Charles Lee and Sam Cassell. And it's not like the "#2" is guaranteed to move up if the HC is fired anyway -- example: Joe Mazzulla literally leapfrogging over the 2nd row to get appointed Interim HC last September -- management can do whatever they want after they give guys whatever titles they figure best assuage egos.

I know Sam's cerebral game dating back to his Florida State days, and his 1rst two Championships with Houston, when Sam was closing out Finals Games his rookie and sophmore NBA seasons.

Man, did Sam torment Duke in college, especially with that grin of his at the end games when he had the ball in his hands.

Still, I would have rather seen Rajon Rondo on the bench. Maybe they expected too many sparks to fly between Rajon and Joe. You just can't call your boss a dumba*s, even if he is one at times.

Another really good addition. Cassell and Lee were two of the top assistants in the league. Both are close to being head coaches.
Props to Brad.

Very cool moves. I can't say I know a dang thing about Lee, tbh, but from reading the last couple days he's respected everywhere, so I'll go with that. I think it's great that Brad & Joe are confident enough to be bringing in these high level guys to collaborate.

Great signings. Will Cassell and Lee finally push our players, and Joe, to play more towards and near the basket?

If Lee was the main reason why Giannis became one of the most dominating driving forwards in the NBA today. Well then i have a good feeling about Tatums future. I wanted to include Brown but he really has to work on his handle, dont know if his injured hand was the main reason though.

Cassell could be the right man to push Browns career towards the right direction and how to play more effective as a guard and develop his court awareness.

The downside of signing these two top assistants is, who could also lead a team as a head coach, that they could be gone after 1 year. If we manage to reach the Finals and definitely if we manage to win the title.

Talk to me about Charles Lee, because I am not a psycho who knows anything about assistants on other teams (I hardly know anything about assistants on the Celtics).

I believe Lee is more of a defensive guru..

At least now Joe won’t **** around as he will be on a short lease, and guys are in place to take over if needed.
