Re: Trade/Free Agency Thread 2023-24, part 10 and Counting . . .
So I was thinking about recent rumors and looking at roster spots that teams have available, and I thought of a weird trade that shifts around 4 teams rotations.
Knicks Receive:
Doug McDermott (From SAS)
Cameron Payne (From SAS)
Jeremiah Robinson-Earl (From OKC)

Jusuf Nurkic (From POR)

Evan Fournier (From NYK)
Davis Bertans (From OKC)
Trail Blazers Receive:
Reggie Bullock (From SAS)
Charles Bassey (From SAS)
Tre Mann (From OKC)
Usman Garuba (From OKC)
Probably gonna throw some seconds and some swaps or firsts in here, but this was my main idea.
The Thunder then cut Oladipo, Jeffries, Jack White, and Khem Birch

Next headline from Shams: “Damian Lillard has transferred agents, leaving Aaron Goodwin for CEO Rich Paul of Klutch Sports. His other client DeMar DeRozan is soon following suit. Jabari Bird however will remain with Aaron Goodwin’s Clownshow Sports Agency.”

During his stretch of averaging *maybe* 8p/4r for our piss poor summer league team, I read that Balcerowski was better than Kornet, and reminded posters of the Gasols and also at least one of the Lopezes.
I will drop it though as it doesn’t matter at all.
so if a player does not shine or sucks in the SL he is not good?? don't make me go there.. don't do it!! way too many players sucked in the SL, and the first one was Trae Young that comes to mind. Now some posters want to trade JB for him..
Point is SL doesn't prove anything for good or bad. It only gives you an idea of what might happen.
as for the highly touted rivalry of Kornet vs Balcerowski, my opinion is simple. By now we know what Kornet is as a player. While Balcerowski is still a bit unknown. I don't think it's a reach to say maybe Balcerowski's ceiling is higher or that his floor may be lower. It's all based on perception and taking risks or not. If Boston wants to keep Kornet, no big deal. If dump him for Balcerowski also no big deal.
carry on gents.. back to, the Dog days of summer.
2 things need to go.. my lack of spell check and Joe..

Nothing wrong with having a different opinion - as long as it's done respectfully. It'd be lame if we all agreed on everything

Teams other than the Heat that can make a legit play for Dame imo are New Orleans, Utah and Toronto

Only problem is, until the league actually gives fines that have some teeth, the players and agents are going to keep doing whatever they need to do to get where they want. The NBA needs to make it hurt. Have the fines start at a million bucks and go up from there. Take 1st round picks from teams instead of 2nd round picks. Most fines are a slap on the wrist at this point.

You don't need a fine. Just prevent Lillard from going to Miami. The Blazers can trade him anywhere except Miami. Now if the Heat were tampering, that's another story.

Adam Silver should ban the Clippers for a couple of seasons for going backsies on the Brogdon trade and Windhorst for saying he has a significant injury. Now the Celtics have to go a through a "healing process" with him. Ugh.

2 of Tatum's best friends, just sitting there in free agency. Tatum pushed to have the 2-way contract rule changed to allow Giles to be eligible for 1 more year on a 2-way to make it easier for him to make an NBA comeback. We just happen to have 1 2-way spot open. Our other 2-way guys, one is a PG (JD) and the other is a wing (Scrubb). So it would make sense if we signed a big to the other 2-way.
Brad also hinted at wanting to sign another wing to 1 of our open roster spots. It also wouldn't be the first time Brad brought back a former Celtic who played for us back when Brad was the coach (Al, Enes Freedom, Theis).
I like giles. Still young, has an upside at least.

Celtics trade for Dame back on?
Some speculation out there, that this action by the NBA may open up
a trade of Lillard to someone other than Miami.
So, why not the Celtics once anew?
Anyone not named Tatum/Brown/Porzingis could/should be available.
Rob/White/Pritchard/Brogdon/2024 Boston & GS 1sts, 2025 Pick Swap, 2026 Top 4 Protected 1st, 2027 Pick Swap
for Dame, Nurkic, and other players.

Discipline for Dame on this trade request if he keeps saying he only wants Miami
I'm not very surprised by this for 3 reasons:
1) Silver has already been cracking down on tampering over the past couple of yrs and penalizing teams for doing it
2) The league has done a lot over the past few yrs to help the with competitive balance in the league, so all teams have a fair shot. What Lillard and his agent have been doing, it sets a bad precedent. If star players can just pick their own teams (like KD and Beal just did, like Harden and Kyrie basically just did, like Lillard is doing) it makes it so only certain teams get the good players, while other teams are getting less of an equal shot at getting good players.
3) There have been a bunch of different guys commenting in the media over the past week or 2 (Austin Rivers, Dr J, etc.) criticizing Lillard and saying that this type of stuff is bad for the league. I've heard 2 or 3 guys now in the past week or so saying the words "bad for the league" and when Silver hears that stuff from a bunch of different people all saying it (especially if 1 of those people is Dr J) then it's not surprising if Silver does something about it
Sure except Silver isn’t hearing a couple interviews they got the word to lay some ground work.

Just complaining out loud but why can’t JT be NBA best friends with hall of famers instead of guys fighting for roster spots??

I do think of all the Celtics greats we've had (yep, I will count JT among them), Tatum's the one who's penetrated the "inner circle". He seems to be friends with everybody. Bam, Embiid, Beal, CP3, Draymond, KD, etc. The problem isn't getting him to hook up with some of these HOFers. Issue is trying to bring them to Boston. Higher chance he forms a super bestie team in a sunnier location at some point.

Fines won't work. Only blocking trades to that team for 12 months will make an impact
For slightly lesser offences, strip them a first and si team of making it disappear, give it to the players incumbent team

It's much better than what miami can offer, but it's weird. I think it hurts us and doesn't do much for the blazers. Lose lose?

Missed this post, and made a similar comment. Ban a trade to that team for 12 months. Mind you, that could be manipulated, a player could tamper and cite teams they don't want to go to so that the trade can't happen
