I wonder how he slipped so low?
No doubt Hugo has got experience.

I'm guess many GMs overthink stuff for no reason, have too much ego to listen to the scouts or simply have no clue what they're doing.
If you want to try to measure the elements of basketball that are supposedly unmeasurable, spend a game just watching Marc Gasol.

Boston Celtics rookie Hugo Gonzalez has exceptionally large hands, measuring 10.25 inches (26 cm) at the 2025 NBA Combine, making it the second-longest hand length recorded in NBA Combine history, just behind Tacko Fall. His hands are noted for being both long and unusually flexible, giving him a significant defensive advantage as a 6'6" guard.

That's crazy, if kid can learn to play good offense, he'll at least be an All-star several times. Heck, Kawhi won several titles and his early career wasn't very noticeable.
Good assessment:

It’s a crapshoot. Sure, scouting isa big part of it, but so is luck. Missing Jokic is crazy, but many teams passed on Giannis too. Oh when we took KO, a few of us cried, but had to quickly adjust to the idea of KO, hoping Danny was right. I wanted so much for KO to be better than Giannis even though I knew he wouldn’t be.

There are many huge misses every draft. Even the best GMs like Presti, passed on Jok and Giannis and guys who are on or near that tier. It happens, a lot. Nobody falls to the second round on Jok’s level, but franchise level guys do. I bet Clippers want Shai back, because no one saw this in him.
