And it was clear to Ainge at least that Rondo was looking for greener pastures.
So now instead of finding 3 stars to surround Rondo Danny needs to find 3 stars and a Rondo.
No that was the entire problem you don't need Rondo or a Rondo. That is why nobody really wanted him except for a team with 3 guys who can score 20 ppg. Year after year teams win NBA Championships with nothing that looks Rajon Rondo playing PG for them.
Ainge's problem is that right now this team is actually playing better ball without Rondo on the floor. This team's HC was sitting Rondo down at the end of games because he was kind of killing the offense. Sure you can gamble his play would get better but it had been over a calendar year since he returned from injury and two years since you saw a decent Rondo out there. The guy has been on the market for a while now and I am not sure Ainge has actually had a better offer than an unprotected first and 13 mil trade exception. It isn't going to be a good pick but you know what year your going to get it compared to the offers from DET and SAC.
Basically it is going to come down to what happens with Wright compared to McLemore and Brandon Knight who are both having pretty good years. That is it folks that is what has been on the table. Knight and what would now be a '16 1st from DET or McLemore, maybe Isiah Thomas, and what will now be at soonest a '17 from SAC.
