The favorite for what? They have 6 players under contract for next season. 3 good players and 3 guys I haven't really heard of. 26 mil in cap space sounds like a lot of money and they may be add to that if NOLA wants to cooperate but I doubt they are willing to go beyond 7/6.

They have no draft pick. How are they going to fill out a starting 5 never mind a roster. If they decide to go chase another star with the cap space then they have to fill out the roster with the Cap exception and Minimum salary guys. The Lakers have done this ass backwards and it actually has a chance to blow up big time.

Lebron can be competitive with stiffs we have seen it before but they are handpicked stiffs that fill specific roles and fit his playing style. It took 48 wins to make the playoffs in West the Lakers may want to start there.

Not even sure they can use cap exceptions if they use cap space to sign a player can they?

To win it all....even if they they won’t get another max they’ll fill the roster out with shooters and veteran role players and have LeBron James and AD. You guys can bury Lebron all you want. I won’t. I hate the guy and want him to fail but if he’s in the playoffs with another superstar and an even playing field (meaning no KD warriors) I’ll pick him every time against the field until something happens otherwise.

Lakers with a realistic shot to win it all and Lebron will fill out the roster just fine.

Not sourced, but being intentionally bad for lottery picks seems like the last resort for Celtics owners. Unless a surefire KD, Lebron, or Duncan is in the draft class. I feel the mandate is "build us a sustainable contender, just don't tank". And because Boston isn't some premiere destination like LA, it limits your options to get a superstar on the roster. Those Nets picks afforded Danny the chance to still draft high while staying competitive. When's the last time a top 5 player said, "get me to Boston. I want to be in Boston."?

You could trade baynes for ersan and no picks.

Bucks having to make tough decisions. If your NO. Take another pick add Illoysova. He helps spread floor for Zion and you get another pick. Keep building that treasure trove

I wish Cs could take Eran in without having to cut bait. But we cant use another pick this year. If they wait until July 1st maybe we can renounce everyone and take back a 2020 pick. Hes the kind of guy that fits what we should be next year. Solid defender and rebounder and spread the floor.

You could trade baynes for ersan and no picks.

That saves them 1.5m this year and 7m next year. Also it was reported he opted in with assurances he won't be traded this offseason.

I think the Bucks want to dump 1 or the other and a first round pick this year to a team under the cap like the Nets did.

That way they can keep Middleton, Brogdon, and Lopez without going into the tax as they can't afford that being small market team.

I mean, their salary structure is way bad right now. Not even talking Mirotic who is unrestricted and made near 13m last year and Middleton who made 13 and about to be 30. They were already at 130m over the tax this season.

Reports have it that Baynes opted in with the understanding that he would not be traded.

Something to keep in mind, the 2021 free agents class will include the following guys, at the ages below. Might need to get Hayward to agree to an extension to be in the max market, but I'm assuming the LAL, LAC, BKN and NYK will blow their cap space this year.. Perhaps Giannis would want to team with Tatum & Brown?

Giannis, 26 y.o.
Damian Lillard
Paul George, 31
CJ McCollum, 30
Rudy Gobert, 29
Bradley Beal, 28

Giannis Antetokounmpo is a unrestricted free agent in 2021

Post#351 » by CelticFaninLBC » Mon Jun 17, 2019 7:58 pm

If LAL, LAC, NYK and BKN max out their cap space for years to come in 2019, should this be the next whale Danny chases?

Hayward's off the books in 2021, so perhaps they sign guys to shorter deals this summer?

Lillard, Beal, McCollum, Gobert, and George are also FA's in 2021.

Giannis will probably be in line for a supermax with Milwaukee. Doubt that he leaves.

Why would any of those players choose Boston over NY LA Miami or anywhere else. Ill give you this. Maybe Beal would. But Giannis would either stay or go to a big market. Dame I think would stay. George would be a Laker or Thunder.

The Celtics need to start planning on selling Tatum on the future incase if he becomes a superstar. Otherwise he's going to be leaving once his contract is up too.

yeah, just stop with 2021 free agents. 1, a top 5 player is not signing in Boston cap room or not.
2. He is one of the few superstars I see worth the supermax and taking it.

Yeah, the 2021 FA class is looking good. I don't think Giannis is going anywhere. That guy will get the supermax, and he loves MIlwaukee. Lillard will get the supermax as well. Beal, McCollum, and Gobert though - I can see those guys moving.

RE: the youth movement - if the Celtics really are headed that route, then I don't want Rozier on the team. His presence will hinder Tatum and Brown's development. I distinctly recall a number of instances where Terry froze out the youngsters even when they were wide open just so he could get a bad shot up. He just isn't about making his teammates better - something a good PG should be doing.

Davis & Kawhi had the same options right? I dunno about Giannis wanting to stayin the Milwaukee, but he'll probably want to end up in LA or NY/BKN like all the top stars.

There is zero chance of this happening. Zero. None. Kyrie has a better shot at coming back. He's either staying in Milwaukee or going to one of the NBA big markets. The glamour markets so to speak.

It's an agent driven league and only one team gets their guy. The Lakers. Wont be surprised he signs with Klutch months before he becomes a FA.

I'm not so sure about that; he really just seems like a dude that wants to win. If Milwaukee presents him the best opportunity, he'll stay & make a **** ton of money.
