Yeah, I guess I'd prefer Thompson at 2/19 over Turner at 3/54, especially since Thompson shot 39% from 3 as opposed to Turner's 34%, and Thompson averaged over 12 rebounds per 36 as against Turner's 8.

If you want to win championships, rebound. Read my sig.

lol of course people are going to regurgitate this awful misleading stat to defend Ainge. It's on .4 attempts a game. Too funny

I think people are not grasping the concept of restricted free agency.

Totally grasp it. If you wait for another team to throw the offer thats fine but maybe you get stuck having to pay an extra 10- 20 mil on top because you now have to match it. You won't lose him but you also don't get the discount. Being restricted does not deter all teams especially if its a small market ready to overpay like Charlotte or a crap team like the Knicks.

Totally deters Charlotte. They still have to do the same cap bloodletting they will do for Hayward, but instead of getting Hayward, they don’t get Hayward OR Brown.

I hear you on that it would possibly deter Charlotte but I think the Knicks would have thrown him a max and give him part ownership of MSG to make sure he signed!

Dray blasted Brad for having a disproportionately large head on TV last year.

TT is still just 29. I thought he was older. Better than Turner and better contract. Not bad I guess.

So we are at 14 players if we count Green.

I see where you’re going with this.

Think we get a seat at the Giannis table next summer?

In case some folks don't know, he's just coming off a 12/10 season.

As a bench player? Fine! But as a starter? No way! We wanted a legit big that can rim protect. Not an undersized big that can’t post up or shoot. Good luck defending against the likes of Bam! While the sixers have Embiid and still got bigger with Dwight. We are stuck with Theis and tristan thompson  This has been a terrible off season.

I know a lot of you don't want this, but I'll happily take Terry and a $12M TPE at this point.

They specifically needed Thompson in the Heat matchup. He helps in their specific bad matchups, including Philly.

He's also a true vet with a ring. Good signing!

Finally some good news. A very good rebounder who will start for us, moving Theis to strengthen our bench

Above average switchable wing defender, that is good man to man, that hit 38% from 3

He isn't inspiring, but pretty decent for an end of the bench spot making peanuts

This seems objectively incorrect. There is a reason Kanter was pretty much unplayable for most of the playoffs. Also, it is not $19 million a season.

You’re right, we’re stuck with him for two years now and wasted our MLE to increase our bench defense slightly.

No, no, great move. I’m sure this will go swimmingly well...

Enjoy the shiny new toy guys.

This is about as plausible of a damage control move as we were going to come up with.

Nobody's celebrating in the streets over TT, but we needed bigman depth. And we needed bigman depth who's primary value didn't lie in taking away shots from our scorers.

Thompson is a huge upgrade on defense over Kanter.

My first thought was that we would only do 1 year deals and then eventually clear Kemba off the books with a trade.

actually a great move, he's almost as good a three point shooter (39%) as KAT (41%)...what's that now...that's on .4 attempts compared to 8? Who cares, I'll keep regurgitating this to defend Ainge ad nauseam?
