Re: Robert Williams, aka TimeLord
I'm guessing what's happening now is they know it isn't a full tear so they are getting opinions on the best way to move forward. If it was a full tear I assume that would have immediately been seen and surgery would have leaked already. My guess is he will sit for a month or so unless they determine he can push through until the offseason ala Joel Embiid

Re: Robert Williams, aka TimeLord
has it been shared yet if this was a grade 1, 2, or 3 MCL tear? Major difference between 1 (mild) and 3 (full tear). Mild tear is a couple of weeks. mid grade is more like 3-5 weeks. Also depends on how quickly ones body heals. I've known a handful of athletes with this injury that were all able to return rather quickly. One was a college soccer player....grade 2 tear....he did nothing for 2 weeks, then started running lightly for about a week or so... then started practicing and playing with a brace on....said it felt weird for another couple weeks but that he was able to play....then after about 5-6 weeks he was back to normal

I can't wait until the game that Rob walks back onto the court to thunderous applause and basketball fans collectively realize that the Celtics are about to hit another level during the playoffs.

Rob is one of two players who have per36 of 10p/10r/1s/2b this season (min 60 games). The other is Mitchell Robinson.
Celtics starting lineup ends season w/ 27-7 record (winners of 18 of last 19) assuming Rob doesn't have a miraculous RS comeback.

They haven't but I assume it would have come out if it was a full grade 3 and needed surgery. I could be wrong

Woj just said on TV that Rob is going to get surgery and it'll either be the 4-6 week one or the season-ender

Re: Robert Williams, aka TimeLord
I rewatched the game last night with the Wolves broadcast. They were talking about how good Rob's been this season and mentioned his crazy shooting percentages. One guy said he was curious why Rob wasn't listed as a league leader on stats sites, and he actually reached out to some official stats guy who told him that if Rob make about 30 more shots this year he would qualify, and had a legit chance of setting the all time record for highest shooting percentage in history. I guess that won't be happening now but it was cool last night lol.

I don't think I'd be able to tolerate any form of "I told you so" from our resident trolls if our season ends early in the playoffs.

For his sake I hope whichever they do does not hamper him long-term. Much as it would suck to lose him, I'd rather him have a 10+ year career as a Celtic and win a couple DPOYs than a 4 year one where his athleticism has been sapped by shortcut knee repairs.

Yeah I think they want to talk to a Doc they can trust and get a recommendation. If it were a full tear I'm not sure there'd be anything to do except a surgery to repair that'd probably be a long recovery. As discussed he's way too young to just remove it and start dealing with bone on bone. That'd be just asking for career limitations down the road if they go with that.
My HOPE is that it is a very minor tear and they just want to go in to scope up / clean out any bits & pieces, then see if it heals on its own.

Fact is timelord will have to change his game going forward, these Uber athletes never hold up in an 82 game schedule.

It's 4-6 weeks only if he chooses the quicker fix surgery option. The better long term option would be a longer recovery and certainly end his season. But it will be up to him and the team to decide how to proceed.

The quicker fix isn't inherently worse long term. It's just weighing risk/reward. He could get the loose parts shaved/scoped and be 100% the rest of his career. That's what the docs will discuss when looking at his scans to weigh the risk.
