Except we are all hardcore pragmatists, and not overly sentimental about grown men that don't even know that we are alive lol.

Maybe. I’d agree for sure right now. But in the offseason?….idk. Part of the reason they didn’t flinch is because they were banking on him coming back along with kyrie, who even if Kevin were hypothetically annoyed with the distractions off court is still a great friend to him. They were also never even being serious about the returns they’d get.
at that time they could still to some degree sell the hope and dream of Ben Simmons being….anything. We’ve seen that’s not happening. They also benefitted from the fact that KD didn’t really escalate things too much. He released the hollow threat about firing the coach and gm (which they did one of anyways lol) but wasn’t super vocal on social media etc.
Point is that if Durant wants to really get out I think he’ll make it clear and put them in a spot where they have to move on. That all depends on if he truly wants out but he won’t be coming here

Right, I meant KD’s not getting traded this week. A healthy KD still makes the Nets a factor in the East, even if they only get a spare part or two for Kyrie.
At some point the franchise will have to move on from him, and maybe the Nets will have some institutional memory of the PP/KG trade and realize they should sell sooner rather than later. That’d be this summer. But — and the rest of this will be my opinion — I wouldn’t pull that trigger soon, you know? As weird as it sounds, I’d still give Simmons another year to see if he can get back to being a consistent impact player. If that’s still a “no” a year from now, maybe then I blow it up.

PF/C is the position Brad should be looking at and hopefully pick up a wing later in a buyout.

Unless JB said he wasn't staying, which he's given no indication of. Still, I can imagine Brad watches the Tatum-less lineups led by JB struggle and does think about it lol.
This team badly needs a backup wing though, badly. It's just hard to watch them at this point some nights when Tatum has to play 48 minutes to beat bad teams.

I agree but on the other hand we've been saying this for years and I don't think we've ever brought in a traditional 'big' to fight Joel except Big Al himself.
