I doubt that. He would have requested Out, like Knight did.
Or, if Celtics couldn't use him, then they would have Waived him, like they did Scrubbs.

No, there's Mutual interest. We'll see what happens by the 14th of April.

Well sure there's mutual interest, but not enough from the Celtics to put him on the playoff roster. My guess is that they want him to sign a deal like the one Hauser signed a few years ago.

Yeah. Something like that would make sense.
Partial Guarantees, with specific dates. If it doesn't work out, then they can Waive him.

I don't think Knight asked out.

Looking at Knight's realgm page, it says that the Celtics ended the 2-way contract of nathan Knight. A couple days later, the Maine Celtics signed him..then a couple days later, the Maine Celtics traded him to some other G league team..he's been playing for that g league team ever since.

Why would Knight want that? Why would he want to go from being on a 2-way contract with the Boston Celtics, to having just a g league contract with some g league team? He's in a worse position now.

I think the celtics chose to move on from Knight - they wanted to get someone else in that 2-way spot..perhaps they already had their eyes on Drew Peterson..

Also, Scrubb was only waived because he tore his ACL and was out for the year.

I'm not sure how much (if any) mutual interest there is between Queta and the celtics on signing him to any type of contract beyond the contract he currently has.

A week ago, Queta said there have been "no discussions yet" on a standard contract:

No reason for Queta to ask out right now either. Unlikely to a guaranteed deal this late in the year from anyone else, he can currently suit up for almost half of the remaining games of the best team in the league, and that team has little to play for so a chance to get real court time and show himself to us or another team. Also he’s got an interest in finishing things in Maine as starting center on #2 seed in g-league so could showcase himself there in playoffs some too if schedule allows to do a little double dipping.

Celtics benefits to signing and risk of waiting have already been discussed a lot and haven’t changed from when he made his first impact until now.

Sure it would make sense for the Celtics, but not for Queta. BTW enjoy Hauser for now, because he's gone as soon as his current contract expires in June of '25.

You lack faith in the Grousbeks' willingness to spend.

But yes -- Hauser's next contract will be for vastly more than his current one. 5-10X salary increase, with which end of the spectrum one is on having a lot to do with one's view of his defensive play.

As for Queta -- at this point there's no reason for him to agree to a bargain deal until he knows which of Tillman and Kornet are or aren't staying with the Cs.

If he's not in line for playing time, he should at least test RFA.

Well there's a reason which is it's not a given that he gets a minimum deal next season.

I honestly think there is a higher probability that Queta gets a minimum deal next season than both Tillman and Kornet coming back to the Celtics. Both Tillman and Kornet are UFAs. Real curious to see what their markets will be especially Kornet's market.

Whatever you think Kornet is worth, his deal might Eclipse it.

Well, salary above the second apron costs $3.25 or more for each dollar spent. So assuming they give a max extension to Tatum and lucrative extensions to White and Holiday, a 10 million-dollar player actually costs at least $45M. And so on.

he's not in line for PT
I really do not understand the Queta fascination from so many here !
dude can do NOTHING to facilitate or score outside of 12 inches

I get the size and D and rebounding some but he is not elite in anyof these areas and too slow-footed to switch

can he maybe become a KP on D (very similar traits) ? Maybe.

do we really need that ? NO.

We definitely need another good Backup Center.
Horford wont be around forever, and Porzingis is Injury-prone.

would love to find a rebounding machine that can guard everything and maybe even score a little

The Queta almost three pointer. No hesitation. He's been practicing.

Queta block then slam on the other end.

Does Jordan Walsh stink at off-ball defense?

Yup, I defininately am a fan of Queta.

I think will be absolutely 3rd big next season, especially if he starts making them threes. Keep either BRissett or X for the backup at PF and we are looking BIG.

PF: Tatum/Horford/Brissett or X
C: Porzingis/Queta/Kornet

Seems like some may like Queta more than he deserves while others less. Hard to know until he gets steady minutes in the NBA. But I am definitely on the side of Queta's upside is more than good enough to want Boston to keep him going forward.
