What would Boston want for Jrue? I’d love to see the wolves turn Randle in Jrue, but a keep hearing he’s fallen off dramatically. Is that true?

I haven’t caught up with all the shenanigans so this has prob been discussed but does this open up Jrue to Memphis? Seems like a great fit.

Jrue/Hauser to Memphis, Clarke to Boston, KCP to somewhere else sort of framework.

Definitely don’t want to trade Reid. Need to move Randle so Reid can start. Would Boston move Jrue for just cap savings?

Randle to Miami
? From Miami to Boston
Jrue to MN

Could mean Memphis is open to moving Morant and JJJ and going full rebuild knowing that they are doing nothing in the West. Memphis next move will be interesting to see what path they are taking.

He set a record for 3 point percentage in his first Boston year. Last year he shot a woeful 30%. That was his "fall off" last year. Otherwise, pretty much the same guy. I'm sure if you analyze it further there was some defensive fall off on tape. At his age it's natural he'd lose some quickness. But in the here and now, he was still worth his salary last year and no real dramatic fall off. Signed for his age 35-37 seasons though, any team that has him is kind of playing with some fire there because decline is natural. For now though, it's overstated.

If Randle picked up his option BOS could trade Jrue for him and save like $1M. MIN probably has to send another player somewhere else to avoid their hard caps. It's an interesting idea if BOS wants to diversify their offense. I actually really like a lineup for BOS, once Tatum is back, of:

White / Pritchard
Brown / Scheierman
Tatum / Hauser
Randle / Horford (re-sign)
Porzingis / Kornet (re-sign)

In the meantime while Tatum is out, play a little smaller and sign a backup guard to use:

Pritchard / (Backup guard signing)
White / Scheierman
Brown / Hauser
Randle / Horford
Porzingis / Kornet

Problem is, they'd have to stay over the 2nd apron for that and I think it's irresponsible of them to do so. So would need to find some other teams to expand.

I'm not the biggest Randle guy, but I do think he pairs well with Porzingis and it's an interesting wrinkle to add to the offense. It's just that I think they have to duck the 2nd apron and that's require moving Porzingis if we got Randle and now you're back to a questionable fit IMO.

It shows it to be a sellers market IMO. Talent will be in demand. So we started out thinking we would be giving assets to get rid of a championship proven commodity like Jrue. But supply and demand is different and the salary cap is projected to go up. So while you have a different market for Jrue, it has likely increased with this initial Bane trade

It could say that. It also could say that teams find the idea of older players (like Jrue) signed for so many potential decline years in the new CBA environment that they'd rather overpay through the nose for someone younger like Bane where the cost is more but they don't feel there's the same risk of being stuck with someone who turns into overpaid dead weight on the books in a league that's financially unforgiving like never before.

Jrue and Bane are entirely different trade scenarios for a lot of reasons. It can be a buyer market for one and a sellers for another.

If Memphis goes in full rebuild:

Celtics trade Porzingis, 2025 1st, 2027 1st, 2031 1st to the Grizz for Jaren Jackson Jr.

Do it Brad!

Not that we'd have the best offer, but they'd probably structure it as:

draft rights to whoever we take at #28 on MEM's behalf / our 2026 pick / our 2031 1st

If we ever did try to make an " all in" offer, teams would prefer the 2026 pick that will be positioned from an all or mostly missed year for Tatum as opposed to 2027. We can trade ur pick this year and that if you wait until after the draft and technically trade the rights to this year's pick instead of the pick itself.

The NBA is on crack. In what world is Desmond Bane (a high level role player) worth four unprotected firsts and a pick swap?!?!

If the Celtics got that haul for Brown or Tatum I would have thought that was a decent return.

Let's have some fun!

Three team deal:

Celtics: JJJ, DeRozan, Terence Davis
Kings: Holiday
Grizz: Porzingis, 2025 1st (Bos), 2027 1st (SAS), 2027 1st (Bos), 2031 1st (Bos)

Celtics cut $12.4 million

Pritchard, White, DeRozan, Brown, JJJ :D

or resign Big Al and move DeRozan again for more $ savings.

Pritchard, White, Brown, Horford, JJJ :D

Rebuild or reload for Memphis? If they're smart they offload Ja and JJJ too. But they might just be clearing Bane's salary as part of a reload around their two best guys. Still don't see how that core does anything in the playoffs. They've swung and missed. Time to start over.
The most charitable interpretation is that it's ethnic cleansing and massive war crimes.

I don't know. To me it says Orlando identified a guy they really wanted and paid a premium price for him. Bane will turn 27 in a little over a week, so a guy still near the beginning of his prime. Jrue is 35, declining, and his contract is a negative. I just don't draw any conclusions about Jrue's value, or how the market in general will be from this one Bane trade.

Memphis isn’t tearing it down they are just retooling on the fly.

I’d be less surprised if they traded for Jrue than if they traded JJJ.

Unless he’s just told them he’s not resigning that would change it a bit.

The point of the DeRozan deal was to move Holiday and get another 1st round pick to give Memphis. I'm sure the Celtics have better deals for Holiday.

I actually like a Randle for Jrue trade for both sides and it's pretty even when you consider contract status, age and fit. Addresses major weaknesses for both. I'd prefer KP be the one going out but that makes less sense for Minny and Jrue simply makes too much money for the C's too keep.

Jrue to minny
Randle to memphis
JJjr to Boston

?

Send Kp and Hauser out for big forwards and savings.

Return to Boston Celtics
