Bradjamin Button is 44 right now.
I don't mean to imply anything, but Brad and Tatum are still younger than Pop and Duncan when they won their first title. Timmy won his first ring when he was 23. Pop was 50.

One day soon when we win our 18th, Ainge and Smart should recreate this photo.

Re: Official Celtics 2020-21 Offseason Thread
How about this for an offseason. Do the Hayward+ for Turner. Sign Howard Rondo and Melo. While your at it get IT if he wants to come back just for old times sake.
Bigs: Turner, Theis, Howard and Timelord(if not traded) more than enough
Wings: Tatum, Brown and Melo for extra scoring/ insurance
Guards: Walker, Smart, Rondo and Wannamaker or IT
Probably still have Grant Williams as. glue guy and some young players to develop.
That could be a title team and isn't as far fetched as it takes to get there most off seasons. You're hoping a few older free agents want to come. Don't see it as very likely, but I don't see any of the moves as being that unrealistic. I guess out of Rondo, Melo and Howard you would need 2 of them to sign for a minimum contract but all 3 currently are on one. You don't really need to make the Hayward trade if that's the hold up too.

With all these trade scenarios is how are people viewing Kemba . I keep hearing how fragile Hayward is and I totally get that but there’s reason to believe Hayward will be like the healthy version of last year. But I’d there really reason to believe Kemba will? He had months off and it still was a problem and we haven’t heard a blip about surgery but then again I don’t hear anybody asking.
All the debates like would you trade smart for #2. No we have to win now. Yes , we’ll get a big we need to win now. Are we winning anything with a compromised Kemba? I’d have to say definitely no

Re: Official Celtics 2020-21 Offseason Thread
List of Active NBA Champions (33 yo and above by 2021 playoffs):
• Udonis Haslem
• Kyle Korver
• Tyson Chandler
• Andre Iguodala
• JJ Barea
• Lebron James
• Marc Gasol
• Trevor Ariza
• Jared Dudley
• JR Smith
• Dwight Howard
• Rajon Rondo
• Corey Brewer
• Marco Bellinelli
• Kyle Lowry
• Aron Baynes
• Danny Green
• JaVale McGee
• Steph Curry
Who I perceive to be leader/locker room voice types from that list -- Haslem, Chandler, Iggy, Lebron, Gasol, Dudley, Rondo, Lowry, Baynes, Green, Curry.
Who I think is realistically, possibly acquirable -- Chandler, Gasol, Dudley, Baynes. LOL that's the list. Would love Gasol or Baynes on the team.
EDIT: We might be better off adding a former champ as assistant coach. KG, what you doin' after that book?

I agree. I mentioned just the idea of seeing what we could get for Kemba a while ago on here and was shut down. The consensus on here is that it is impossible and stop talking about it lol. I get it that he is a super nice guy and I guess to some extent it is a bad look to future free agents to trade someone a year after they sign with you as a free agent. But yeah, I'd trade Kemba and Hayward before Smart that's for sure.

Kemba's knee is without a doubt concerning. Really wonder why he's not getting surgery. Is this a thing surgery can fix?

I don't think so, it's arthritis apparently.

This could be HUGE. This means feasibly, we can extend Hayward AND stay under the tax.

That's if he agrees to opt out and re-negotiate for a longer deal (probably max at Jaylen Brown type of money but for 3 yrs instead of 4).

But is he really worth it? Even if we can spend it without the tax hit. He is a good player but he's just hurt too much and when he isn't hurt he's just not that good anymore. I mean he hasn't played like a star since Utah and that was a few fears and a few injuries ago. How helpful is he really going to be in 2 or 3 years? The problem is that if we just let him go or trade him for basically nothing, we can't really replace him as we won't have the money to spend.

Re: Official Celtics 2020-21 Offseason Thread
all of this Cap stuff is just going over my head. So can someone tell me how much "spending" or CAP Space would Boston have THIS year if GH does in fact not opt in and finds another team elsewhere for whatever..?
If Boston were to lose GH for nothing this year, I would consider that a major blow since Boston is already so thin at bench and veterans etc..
Keeping him or trading him (for someone decent) at least gives us another good player.

If Gordon opts out and leaves for another team, the most Celtics can spend on a free agent (not counting our own free agents) is the full non-taxpayer mid-level exception which is just above $9M. That $9M can be divided between multiple players. But that's the max we can spend.
We won't have cap space whether Gordon leaves or stays.
EDIT 1: Apparently, there's a specific scenario where the cap goes up to $115M and we could have as much as $12M of cap space if Hayward opts out but that would involve a lot of moving parts and cap gymnastics.
EDIT 2: Without cap space, we'll have the Bi-Annual Exception too aside from the full MLE. Something like $3.6M if cap stays at $109M.
