If Luke plays as many games as he did last season, he'd already surpass Timelord in career games as a Celtic. Kinda wild.

Luke knows he’s got a $100B career as a Boston sports media guy until he’s seventy five years old why go anywhere. Dude has it made.

Let’s not lose sight of the fact that Luke is a good, nay very good player who gives us extremely valuable regular season minutes. There isn’t much of a drop off when he’s in the game.

Luke Kornet, league leader in contested rebounding %. Put some respek in his name.

Lukeres Pekornet. What do I win?

Actually pretty suprising, as rebounding toughness is what it feels like he was lacking for several years. Or does this just mean he doesn't move well enough to get the uncontested ones?

Luke is praised for his blocking out, allowing teammates to get rebounds.

Maybe that behavior somehow influences the selection of which "contested" rebounds he actually competes for personally.

Being tall also helps. :)

That might be a small part of it.

But I think this is also attributed to:

a) small sample size, so take with grain of salt
b) From what I've seen a little bit with eye test, Luke seems to be playing a little bit tougher, more aggressive, a little meaner this season - especially when crashing the boards
c) A lot of rebounding is less about toughness and more about IQ, positoning, timing. He's very good at that stuff
d) Always helps to be 7'2"

Noa Dalzell: "Yeah, he doesn’t like to share too much, but his shot has regressed a bit over the years and his role in the Celtics offense has just meant that they don’t use him as a shooter… but he still practices threes quite a bit and would imagine he’ll shoot threes at some point again during his NBA career."

Has anyone ever asked Kornet why he abandoned his 3pt shot?

We have space for Lonnie Walker
Management doesn't have the money

Kornet regressed from last year. Maybe it is the injury that bothers him

Luke Kornet leads the team in true shooting %, assist/turnover ratio, screen assists, and screen assist points. I'm totally fine with him not taking those threes when he's left wide open from ATB 3 unless it's very low clock. Those possessions usually lead to open threes for better shooters anyway with him pitching/handing off/screening.

In Brad's time as SBOBO, the Celtics have yet to lose a game (10-0) when Luke Kornet has started.

Luke's best game this season couldn't have come at a better time. No KP and Horford, no problem.

Brad needs to add another year or two to Luke's contract extension.

I think Luke has been banged up. In pre-season he showed flashes and last night he was really good. I think Queta got a lot of looks because Kornet was hurt. I think he may end up playing a lot of minutes as 3rd big if he can get healthy and continue to blend with the top 8 guys..
"I think the criticism's stupid," Stevens said. "So I don't care. I'm with Jaylen (Brown) on that. Those two had achieved more than most 25 and 26 year olds ever had. I'd rather be in the mix and have my guts ripped out than suck."

Anyone wanting Luke out of here is nuts. He is cheap, knows the system, and they dust him off whenever they need and he can play well in spots. KP, Horford and then queta seems to be rotation. Tillman and Kornet on the fringe. I think that’s a really good 5 big rotation.

Luke has been hit and miss so far this season, but as you said he's a vet min option and he knows the system so what more can we ask for? As long as he's cheap we should keep him. If a roster crunch came into play you'd have to consider his place, but I'd honestly look elsewhere in the roster for space before letting him go with cheap replacement level bigs being tough to come by.

Agreed.

IMO, every team in contention would love to have Luke Kornet and that's why they shouldn't move him. He doesn't play for a few games, then comes in and doesn't miss a beat. What more can you ask.

Do the C's get Luke's bird rights after this season?
