Hell yeah. Pressey seems like a great pickup and solid #3 assistant.
Really seems like a good dude, a family man and proud dad, too which is cool:
?s=20
?s=20
-Not only played for the Celtics for a couple of seasons and his dad (Paul Pressey) briefly coached with the C's as well, but also Phil Pressey played prep school ball at Cushing Academy in Mass. So he certainly has some ties to the Celtics and the Boston area.
-Very young guy. Only 32! So he's even younger than Mazzulla. He'll probably really be able to relate to our players who are obviously all in their 20's or 30's.
-Was an assistant this past season at Missouri. Missouri was a very good, well coached team this season. One thing to note is that they had one of the best, most explosive offenses in college basketball but they were not one of the better defenses. They ranked 26th out of 363 teams in offense, and they were ranked 302nd out of 363 teams in defense. So when you start to think about it, it's easy to see why Mazzulla likes this guy. Former PG, short guy (only 5'10"), really young guy (only 32), etc.
-Since Pressey was at Mizzou last season, keep an eye on former Mizzou Tigers Kobe Brown and D'Moi Hodge. Brown is a guy we could possibly take with our 2nd round pick on Thursday and Hodge is a guy we could possibly scoop up as an UDFA..
