I think Romeo’s stroke needs some work.
He is much better going to the hoop.
And he has excellent defensive instincts.
And he looks about 12 (facially).

Romeo just seems so smooth on defense. And just seems so relaxed. Idk, something about his game seems so appealing to watch.

Only two rookies in Celtics history have registered 16+ points and 3+ blocks in a game as a reserve -- Kevin McHale (1981) and Romeo Langford (last night).

True, and pretty damn remarkable considering the size of the class and where they were drafted or otherwise acquired. Even Poirier has started to show a little something, which I honestly didn't think was going to happen.

As he gets better and the game slows down for him even more, this is really going to work in his favor because he is very smooth but is sneaky athletic. He already has several blocks where he calmly rode the defender to the rim, waited for the release and EXPLODED for a clean block. And on the other end, several buckets where he has hung in the air long enough to find daylight and put it in, sometimes with the off hand.

Looks to have a very naturalistic feel for the game. Rookies are generally a step or more too slow to catch what is happening, or several steps too fast as they try to make a play without even knowing where on the floor their body is.

There is still some looseness in the team D concept but when his job on a play has just been to stick to his man, he has done remarkably well. And in pressure situations—he was all over Huerter’s last attempt but also didn’t come close to losing control and letting Huerter draw a whistle on the play.

He has earned minutes even with the squad at full health.

I like Javonte Green, but Romeo Langford makes him expendable next season.

And Grant Williams likely makes Semi Ojeleye expendable.

It's hard to argue with a kid that young going to the hoop (0-3') more than 20% of the time--and so far batting 1000 from that range. And yeah, he's got an advanced BBIQ and all the athletic ranginess you could want in a defender. It's really only the 3 he's been weak from so far (at .267). He is for example at .500 from 10-16' so far. And with the 3's, he's already taken one heave, which shows an admirable competitiveness and means that his real 3pt% is .286. Not bad for a young guy's first 14 NBA 3pt attempts. But sure, the stroke had to be put back this summer and fall, so it will probably be really kicking after this summer's refinement.

I know most of the rookies have underperformed other than Williams but damn they all have something different to bring to the table. Romeo can succeed in this league for years because of his defense. The exciting part is some of his offense game looks very good as well. The Celtics have a very bright future and it’s awesome.

This is probably fast-forwarding way too far into the future but I watch this kid and I wonder if he shows the skill to break into the starting lineup maybe after next season. That would be maybe the first time that you could even think of moving Jaylen. Not saying that we definitely would. But I'll be watching Romeo's growth next to Jaylen's. Jaylens leap this season has been considerable. But I think Romeo's potential as a defender may be higher than Jaylen's. Romeo's offensive potential, I still want to see more of. But if he projects to be someone who could be better than Jaylen on defense and approach his offensive skills then...
and that's "MR. Irrelevant" to you!!

Danny did well with this year's crop of rookies. The Celtics have three probable first round picks in 2021. There are going to be some tough decisions to make next off-season. But this is a "good" problem to have. I don't care about the cost. The owners are already rich and committed to building a winning team. Owning a winning NBA franchise that is profitable is the best of all worlds.

Philadelphia gave up the picks that became Tatum and Langford for Fultz.

Yeah, the entire night. I always think of him as a 2, but in fairness he was at the 3 in the small ball lineups a lot.

Was one of the picks they got for trading Fultz the one they used to trade with us (Thybulle/Grant/Edwards)?

In fairness, they were able to turn him into Jonathon Simmons a late first and a 2nd..... 8-)
