I apologize for not knowing a ton about the new CBA and second apron yet but wouldn’t a TPE count against the cap and well.. hard cap us into not being able to use it?

Or is that just if you’re under the salary cap in general?

I believe it will only count against the cap if you use it, and then only the amount you actually use. Great thing about TPE's is you can break them down into smaller contracts.
Let's say we trade Grant in a S&T for 14 million going out into their cap space and pay a second for the other team to take him as a S&T, we get a TPE for 14 million, that we then can except, say, 3 players from another team if we want, or from three different teams, as long as their combined salary is less than the TPE.

I don’t like him as a top 1 or 2 but a number 4 or 5 is much less risky.

Harden has asked to be traded from his the last 3 teams. Stay away.

Let's look at it like this though.
Houston - They were clearly tanking and Houston was basically getting Harden to ask out so they can make excuses to fans.
Nets - Everyone wanted out of that toxic situation and everyone did get out.
Sixers - Three seasons in a row, Embiid chases away an all-star teammate. If you are Harden and you hear Embiid say "Me and James can't do it alone," you gotta be thinking next 2nd round exit it's gonna be me under that bus.

Meh a bit of lip service to Wyc. Not saying we won’t spend. But he walks back that green light in his own statement.

I honestly don't think Harden cares about winning; he wants to be the #1 option on a team where he can play iso and shoot 35 times a game.

Maybe. If Brogdon is out they definitely need a guard, but I think Morris best fits their team's attitude need.

Harden has always sweet talked the next potential team into thinking things are going to work out great just so he can go to whoever gives him the most money or years of contract. Harden wanted to go to the Rockets from OKC, then he wanted to go to the Nets, then he wanted to go to Philly, now he wants to go to the Clips. He always makes it sound like this is going to be the best fit ever,...until it isn't.

Man, if things had worked out in OKC with Durant, Harden and Westbrook, and they were able to put egos aside, that team would have won multiple titles by now.

As far as guards go we need another one that works around screens effectively. I'm no basketball smarty pants but I guess we will play drop even more and White's good, and Brogdon/Pritchard is not optimal for this.

Delon Wright or Caruso

Caruso would be great. The lovable ugly hustle guy. But why would Chicago want to deal him?

They have more of a need at PG. Perhaps some type of Brogdon for Caruso swap, with other pieces likely involved..

Wright is the more realistic target, though.

Clippers re-engaged. IDK if LA would give up Powell to get Brogdon but we're not taking Morris/Coffey/late 1st. Third team could help either way.

Why? I don't think Stevens planned on trading Smart, but he valued Porz > Smart when the deal broke down.

Only reason to trade Brogdon now for little value is if you're concerned he's going to be bothered about Brad attempting to trade him.

I don't think anyone is advocating for that. We have 11 players signed right now. Brogdon being traded would be down to 10. I think everyone would expect that at least one of those then 5 vacant spots would be another PG.
