Maybe Brad can package Baylor/Walsh/Tillman and picks for a rebounder---I just don't see anyone out there.

let's play a preseason game with Queta before we panic and start dreaming of finally landing HOFer Andre Drummond. Pritchard will rebound beyond his fair share, too, and the team's best rebounder is hopefully returning in months, not years.

I would bet good money that if Minott plays like this all season, he’ll get minutes, whether he finds his 3 stroke or not. Eventually, if he can’t shoot the 3, they will just have to draw up other things for him to be effective. That’s how good his D and activity was last night.
It will be like Brissy, except he doesn’t have stars he has to fight for minutes. They will accept around league average too, so I don’t think he’s so bad, based off one game, to where he can’t shoot around 35-ish %. Not good, but not too far off league average, then add other things he does well and he’ll play.
Hugo made mistakes, but I was most impressed by him last night. Like Minott, he is very active. The chase down block was impressive, you knew he’d get it based on his euro videos. He also got the one chase down when he turned the ball over, but a teammate fouled the guy.
The majority of his mistakes weren’t effort based, a few times he tried to do things that won’t work in the nba (that way), and some was not being where you should. I think most of his mistakes started when he was tired. I recall his worst SL game was when he seemed dead tired from the jump. Joe was talking to him a lot when he would mess up, but he wasn’t upset with him like he was with Rico at one point.
Another thing I enjoyed was how he was aware when he messed up, even if the average fan couldn’t see it was his mistake. His mistake led to a trickle down effect in favor of the griz. So, you could blame another guy who was around the end result, when 3 moments ago someone else made the initial mistake that caused unnecessary out of place scrambling. He didn’t just acknowledge it, he’s go to Joe and discuss it. Very mature guy. Hard on himself, but it hasn’t seemed to break his confidence or at least his activity. He seemed to go harder when he p’d himself off.
Yeah, I was impressed, but I was with his SL. Though, it doesn’t seem like many others were. HE’S ONLY 19!!!! Not Tatum’s infinity 19, but a good start!

I think Josh Minott will be playing regular minutes all year. I actually prefer to start him with Pritchard, White, Brown and Queta so he can continue to do what he does best which is cutting, defense and rebounding. That would leave a 2nd unit of Simons, Hauser, Boucher and Garza. I don't see it happening but I also don't think it's a bad idea.

not a bad start against the shorthanded Grizz. One thing that stood out the most is absolutely none of our Bigs should have the green light behind the arc. Get downlow and bang, possibly grab a board or two!

When Minott learns to shoot he will be a really good player. I love his active hands on defense and he made some nice passes too.

This is gonna sound awkward but Hugo has a great body for a professional athlete and great motivation to use it to its utmost. Also seems highly coachable. Give us that, and the rest is easy. I project he's a starter in this league -- or at 'worst' a rotation player on a title contender. Would've said the same during SL too, so it's not JUST because he crammed all over that Grizz last night

Yeah, you all might be right about Minott. Maybe he'll play even if he can't shoot. Honestly, I think he should get 40 games of rope no matter what. And maybe those shots were just nerves last night but they looked terrible.
The most charitable interpretation is that it's ethnic cleansing and massive war crimes.

If he's a rotation player by the 2027 all-star break, that's a huge win. (I assume he'll get rotation minutes this year whether deserved or not).

- Ooogo looks like a rotation guy from the jump. Screw Maine.
- Minott looked good as well - seems Brissett-y (EDIT - Shak just said, but I also said in a different thread earlier...).
- Jordan looked Walshy in his 8m first half run. Didn't wow, but I wanna keep seeing him. But see previous 2 lines - he might be squeezed out of minutes.
- Garza is active out there, and will be solid helping the offense flow. Gonna get minutes by default. We'll see how he holds up against a team with tall players.
- Boucher is fun, but you probably don't wanna have to have him out there for as many minutes as we'll probably need to have him out there.
- Baylor should probably eventually start hitting some shots if he wants to play.

Hugo looked nice. Deflection, kick ahead and one hand slam was niiiice
I thought Minott looked good too. I got a whiff of Brissy nostalgia as well
Baylor was another night shooting <30% from the floor, Im starting to worry
Also, that team Memphis put on the floor was just not NBA caliber.
(And the crowd, lol, lightly attended, lol? couldve fit the entire crowd inside a McDonalds, lol)
So I am just not very confident drawing conclusions playing those Memphis G-leaguers
Tomorrow night in Toronto will tell me a lot more. Toronto is healthy, they got a lot of dogs, and Raps are an east sleeper for me. Tomorrow night will be a way more interesting test case imo

Hugo, Minott, Garza and (to a lesser extent) Boucher, Stock all rose.
As I said before, Rebounding is going to be a Key Issue. Along with figuring out who does what.
Anxious to see Pritchard, Simons and Queta.
Never liked cutting Preseason Games down to 4. I think that we should increase them; 12 seems like a good number.
We're supposed to have a Minor League, that we should be feeding, and getting fed from.

Agree that pre season should be extended. At least the training camp

If Garza becomes steady at drawing fouls in the paint, I'm gonna be a big fan. In an offense where 90% (exaggerating) of the offense will be 3s, that's gonna be valuable.
Baylor is too reliant on the 3. He's gotta find some higher percentage scoring opportunities. He's crafty and strong enough.
It's kinda funny seeing Boucher crash at every contact, but weirdly I don't get a sense that he's fragile like KP.
Minnott and Gonzales had bad looking misses from 3. That's gonna limit their role going forward. But both are incredible defensively. Hugo is gonna give DWhite a run for his money as best perimeter shotblocker in the team.
This team's gonna be good if healthy (good for 45 wins I feel). But it all it takes is one injury to Brown for everything to crumble down.

Btw, how the heck are the Grizzlies so injured before the season has even started?
Morant, JJJ, Edey, Clarke, KCP, and Landale all on the injured list with a litany of issues. Sheesh.

Yeah, the competition left something to be desired for sure. But you can only rout who’s on the schedule. Toronto should be interesting.

Toronto will be a completely different game if Queta, Pritchard and Simons play.
As for Jordan Walsh, why did he not play at all in the 2nd half? And why didn't anyone miss him?
Minott looks like a player who can do everything well except shoot. Same for Hugo, who did a creditable job of running the point in the second half. Walsh is a player who does almost nothing well and can't shoot either. Yeah yeah he's still young, but I haven't seen significant improvement since his rookie year. Davison, who was cut, improved twice as much as Walsh.
