Thanks Ray for being part of the best 5 years of my Celtics fandom. I wish you only the best in terms of individual achievements going forward, and only the worst in terms of team success.

Can we please just rename this the "F U ALLEN" thread, for what it really is, 1 out of 1000 fans might actually appreciate and be ok with him leaving for the heat.

Allen believes the capital he's built up playing for UConn and the Celtics would supercede signing with Miami. He's probably misjudged that.

Officially: Ray Allen is now "Gay Allen."

Props to my girl Sami on that nickname. It was something she liked to say when Ray would attempt that random pass that was casually intercepted by the defense... that would leave you... just scratching your head.

So one cheer for Gay Allen everyone!

Thanks for the memories!

I've mentioned my preference for Pietrus previously, but this makes Miami tougher.

Stop being scorned lovers here. My god. He took less. We have to go for the Mayo's of the world now and overpay, that sucks, but we wanted this guy out of town in the worst way, until the heat wanted him.

Instead we should thank him for all the great memories and clutch game winning shots he provided us. I was never his biggest fan but I will miss him.

We can't get mayo.

Allen was our last shot to get a solid sg to start until bradley is back and then possibly slide into a 6th man role through the playoffs.

Now our team is pretty much set besides the addition of a few guys like dooling, wilcox, steamer, ect.

The thing that irks me is the fact that even before Ray came to Boston, he was one of my favorite athletes because of his game (obviously) but also the way he carried himself. What he did for this team, especially his first year here - taking a huge reduction in his role compared to earlier in his career that ultimately played a part in us winning banner 17 - will not be forgotten. The sad thing is, as much as I appreciate what he did for the team, today I lose a lot of respect for him.

@SeanGrandePBP: Ray Allen was a great Celtic. He's earned the right to finish his career where he wants

What Allen did is make our team weaker, and a team, that was going to win a title anyway, impossible to beat. I was a huge Allen fan but signing with the **** heat is unforgivable to me as a celtics fan. That would be like Brady joining the jets or PP signing with the Lakers.

Right there with you, and, heck, if this means we resign Krstic, I'm happy (albeit HATE that he went to the Heat. any other team [even la] and I'd be fine).
