KG and PP don't have too many years left to play, those 1'st rounders could be very interesting if you could see the Nets really falling back in the standings by the time the 3'rd one comes around. Certainly that Wallace contract is bad, but lets be honest, the Celts aren't contenders for a few seasons and it could just run it's course, be bought out, or later sent as an expiring somewhere.

This trade is absolutely terrible. I don't see how this is better than just keeping KG and Pierce and letting them expire

I may be wrong but if we were to acquire G Wallace, can't we use the amnesty clause on him?

if i was their GM i would trade Humpries in an heartbeat, but no way i'm dealing KG. that would lead to have KG as your primary big man at 37 yrs old. i'd rather keep KG and Brooks and let Hump walk

Marshon Brooks... Not Brook Lopez

alrite some scrub
thanks
KG Brooks is killer

Bill Simmons @BillSimmons 2 minutes ago

That rumored Celtics-Nets trade is so bad for Boston that Doc Rivers just quit on the Celtics again.

4 picks is the best we'll get from both of them, at the same time if we want 4 1st round picks we'll have to get back some bad contracts

People said the same thing about Raef LaFrentz trade for Antoine Walker. In the end, LaFrentz got us Ratliff which made KG trade possible and Walker also brought back 2 draft picks that became Tony Allen and Delonte West.

Rebuilding means it doesn't matter if you take on bad contracts as long as you accumulate assets.

However, I would love it if Danny flipped Wallace to Cleveland for 2 second round picks.
"I think the criticism's stupid," Stevens said. "So I don't care. I'm with Jaylen (Brown) on that. Those two had achieved more than most 25 and 26 year olds ever had. I'd rather be in the mix and have my guts ripped out than suck."

I think the issue is that sending PP with KG is the only way to get KG to agree to go to BK. PP + KG = BK. But how do we do it without taking back Wallace? I have no idea. I wonder if DA could find a 3rd team silly enough to take on Wallace?

No, you can only use the amnesty clause on players who have been on the team's payroll with a single unmodified contract since 2011, without being traded.

What are the assets? The 1st round picks?

Teams can't trade 1st round picks in consecutive years, it will be YEARS by the time was can cash in on those picks.

This deal sucks regardless of how you look at it.

No, you can only use amnesty on a player you signed yourself before the new CBA,
In the celtics case Bradley, Rondo or Pierce

They are going to have to rename the Stepien rule.

Not a big fan of the idea, but I suppose if you got a pick next year with very little protection, you could hope that team could blow up. Older stars, Williams and Lopez have had injuries, rookie coach, no other trade assets to improve mid-year.

Would the third pick be this year after the draft or twenty what, eighteen? That makes my brain hurt.

Rondo
Bradley
Green
Wallace
Fabolous Melo

this lineup will struggle scoring 50 points a game

Like the 4 picks, but not at the expense of taking Wallace.

Maybe we don't have to, though.

Check this out on ESPN's Trade Machine. I know it's not this board's trade checker, but it seems to work even though Nets have $28 mil coming in and only $16 mil going out, so not sure how it could. Anybody?

http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=oyurbor

PP and KG for Kardashian, Teletovic, Brooks and Shengelia and 3 1sts. That I do.

I knew this rumor was coming because the Nets are one of the few teams that would take both KG and PP.

Humphries and Lopez, plus tons of picks???

I just checked the Salary and roster for the Nets in 13-14 next year. They dont have nearly the assets to give back for a strait up trade. Here is their roster and salary stats for next year.

http://www.hoopsworld.com/brooklyn-nets-team-salary

If this were to happen, which is very difficult, they would have to bring in a 3rd team. It woud be a major pain to make salaries match up and have everybody get what they want. If the C's Really covet Josh Smith, they should try and bring Atlanta into this trade so that it looks something like this

Celts Trade:
Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce, Courtney Lee

Celtics Receive: Josh Smith, Kris Humphries Nets 1st round Draft Pick of whatever year.

Atlanta trades:

Josh Smith,

Atlanta Receives:

Brooks Lopez, Marshon Brooks

New Jersey Trades:
Brooks Lopez, Kris Humphries, Marshon Brooks, and their 1st round draft Pick of whatever year

New Jersey Receives:
Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce, Courtney Lee

It would have to get creative like this for all this to work. Plus i'm not a cap guru so, there would have to be cap savy moves made, but i dont think I'm really far off. I say atlanta goes in on this deal, cause they are about to let Josh Smith walk for nothing. Which is major stupidity on the part of Danny Ferry.

I'll pull my post from another thread into here and tell me what you think about the 3 team deal. Does it work?

We'd be getting 4 first round picks right? And Humphries has some value considering he'll be a large expiring.

This is a typical Danny Ainge rebuilding trade. We're not trying to win a title now. Of course Wallace makes things different. I don't want him and his contract.

But Raef at least was in his 20s and played a position of need. Crash is turning 31 and plays the same position as Jeff Green. Further, Pierce + KG is more outgoing talent than Toine & Delk.

And finally, Raef was a mistake. An understandable mistake, but a mistake. Too much downside for too little reward.
