regardless thanks Smitty!!!

Trading Crowder instead of Bradley would also make little sense.

That said, there are many possible explanations. E.g., Ainge may want to keep Bradley out of trade rumors at all costs, for some relationship or negotiating reason.

I don't believe any pundits or talking heads or rumor mongers. There's so much misinformation and chicanery going on with agents, front offices, players "leaking" trade rumors. So many different agendas. Most of the time people like you are just collateral damage. G.M.s are constantly in talks with each other when they''re at SL, league functions, or just because they have a relationship with them such that they talk and check in with one another. ANYONE can claim that ANY trade is rumored to be discussed. All it takes is a cursory understanding of team needs, salary cap, and motives. These rumors pretty much write themselves. Player A is a FA at the end of this year on a team that wont' be contending...Team B (Boston) has players/draft picks that could offer a good return. Throw that out into the void with a "I heard from my source, who of course I cannot name...blah blah blah". Most of the time these rumors are just some guy throwing out what he feels would be a plausible deal. It's done for attention and many buy it, others not so much. How convenient that if there is no deal you have defenders saying "just because there hasn't been a deal doesn't mean there weren't talks". lmao. I never believe rumors. Why bother? It either happens or not. There are a million different trade scenarios one can dream up and attach to sources. No thanks. I like discussing trade scenarios but when people start regurgitating these rumors you just have to laugh.

I think in general the problem is not the rumors but people's expectations. Conversations happen between teams alot and very few times does it end up resulting in much. Does not mean there was nothing there to begin with but these deals generally do not work out.

Keep your chin up Smitty. Your insights and "insider" info are what keeps these boards fun and exciting. Just ignore the killjoys who feel they need to put you down instead of just keeping their disbelief to themselves.

Smitty is a beast. No doubting that. As for Crowder? How much better does that make us? Crowder going out for Westbrook I guess I can swallow. However, I don't know how many wins that swap for Blake nets us.

As to why Doc wants Gay over Crowder:

Doc is familiar with Gay. He prefers guys he knows over guys he doesn't. He also likes older players vs younger ones.

For the record, I also think it is entirely illogical as well. Crowder is better than Gay, but look Doc's record as the GM. Not exactly sparkling.

I've really an a-critic opinion on the matter, rumors are fun, if they actually output a trade it's fine if they don't, whatever... One thing are rumors one thing it's breaking the news of a done deal, to do that you have to be 1000000% sure... Calling a rumor "fake" it's harder and needs more evidences than the rumor itself.

Very good stuff though, Smitty. Definitely sounded like you've had quite the adventure, too.

There were threats? I didn't even know Smitty talked about Griffin. Knew he was in Vegas, that was it though.

Yo Smitty man don't let any fool get you down. You don't need to explain yourself or clear things up.

First off. IMO, if you take the time to go through your cap sheets & whatnot, you obviously handle your ****. I believe you

Second. This is the internet. People post garbage here all the time. If you don't like it, don't read/post OR maturely ignore it.

Threats & ****? Nonsense.

he just had 3 derp posters who basically stalked him in posts and posted it's bullcrap after every single post he made. heck, they would do it when he didn't post anything about a rumor. The rumor thread was 100 pages of us talking about rumors and having fun, with those 3 posting their opinion about how it's all false on every single page. yeah, we get it, you don't believe we'll ever made a trade, we got that on page 1, 99 pages ago thank you.

Once you're perceived as an "insider" and once you bring up a big name like Blake Griffin coming to Boston and once the heart bubbles formulate when a rabid fanbase starts envisioning alley-oops from Isiah to Blake, anything less than Blake coming to Boston is going to fall on the "insider".

All that happened a few days ago was a temper tantrum by people who didn't get what they were hoping for, and directed their whiney bullsh-t on you.

It's really no big deal. Keep doing what you do and shake off the idiots.

Smitty, big supporter. I read this forum for the interchange of ideas, the Celtic banter, and any sort of news that may dribble in here. You are one of the best. You bring real thought to this forum and I appreciate it. Anybody with a keyboard can mash buttons and produce crap, not everyone can type information that brings in traffic every minute. Excelsior!

Can't RealGM's software support the ability to have one "private" topic/discussion. Is RealGM a homegrown software or is powered by a Jive / Lithium style software?

Seems like an easy fix. One "private" topic moderated by the mods designed for inside speculation by board members vetted out by mods. Anyone that starts the BS that happened last weekend they are kicked out of that topic and sent back to the public topics.

Great stuff Smitty. This board should pay you.

My personal opinion, but I want your thoughts of what you may have heard. I think the Okafor stuff is a smokescreen. I don't think Ainge wants him outside of getting him for free.

I believe the Blake pursuit is real and Okafor is a fall back maybe.

Am I close on this one?

Seriously, Smitty, every single post of yours is quality. I love the "insidery" stuff, but even your other posts are well thought out, informed and insightful.

And there are quite a few other posters here who are the same way. Keep it up guys. I enjoy coming here every day (mostly just to read, but occasionally post).
