James Young says hi. He was picked at 17, and one could make an argument that at least Yabusele brought a few moments with his bow and arrow thing and was a good apple on the Celtics bench.

But Young? All I can remember is he had one memorable dunk... in the NCAA tourney.

Not sure I should get too excited about Hernangómez because I read that this injury is a grade 4/5 dislocation in his left shoulder and that typically requires surgery and he would be out for several months.

At least 4 different threads talking about the Hernangomez trade. Can we officially agree that we can't wait for preseason?

well we can always go back to rehashing the 1989 draft where we selected michael "the next larry" smith one pick ahead of 5-time allstar tim hardaway (the original). i'm pretty sure i remember a few posters here claiming smith was the BPA at the time.

I didn't even realize he was hurt. That's a bummer

he was hurt at the end of last year, but he was cleared by spanish doctors to play in the olympics but the twolves didn't want him to (which caused some friction). surely he's mostly healed by now?

Yabu has talent, he was just either out of shape or injured his entire time with us, watched him play in the olympics and he looked pretty good, he is a career 40% shooter from 3 in international play (on over 500 attempts) 7-1 wingspan, crappy rebounding rate but alot of steals and a decent amount of blocks though. He is still only 25... shame he never got it together for us, he had some interesting tools.

Actually the all-time worst Celtics draft pick was Joe Forte.

 I almost forgot about that. It basically marks the moment that Bill Simmons career as a professional Celtics fan ended. His father probably gave him a rough time about that fist pump. What an unfortunate camera shot.

And I really liked the Grantland/BS Report shows with Bill, Jalen Rose, the baseball bat, "keep getting those checks", "Boogie!" -- all of it. There was an element of improv, chemistry and randomness that ESPN can't even fathom these days. Unfortunately Simmons went a little too far it seems.

Well, it definitely up there in ranking as the pick that hurt the most, especially since the oft-lambasted GM Chris Wallace was apparently over-ruled by legend Red Auerbach to take Forte over Tony Parker. Forte was a complete bust and Parker... well maybe best not to rehash that one again.

So, yeah, can't argue with you there, Curm.

There was also the time Beyoncé was wearing a #13 jersey and he thought it said BOSTON instead of HOUSTON. Not worth a 1st round pick but that was good.

He is probably good enough to play in nba now. Just took a chance on him too early. But he isn’t good enough to go get him.

Can Olnyk at least get some consideration in this discussion based on who the Celtics should have taken at that spot?

Well, that one definitely ranks as there as #1 in the pain department, but Olynyk isn't a bad player, and technically 13 other teams whiffed on that one as well.

The part that still bothers me is that Ainge moved from #16 (Noriega?) to #13, and it seemed to me like a done deal that he was going after Giannis, particularly with the reports about Ainge scouting him. I was fist pumping, shouting, and cracking a cold one until the pick was in.
