LOL, Tom Brady still playing, guess he'll be the king in NE until he retires, not even LeBron could take his crown if he came playing for the Celtics.

Well, of course he's opting out. No reason not to.

I think it's more of a question of whether he's signing a 1+1 or 3+1 deal. The former is insurance in case he's eligible for the super max next year. The latter allows him to opt out the day he becomes eligible for the 10-year vet max (which is basically the super max minus the All-NBA requirements).

Either way, it's good for us. The Jazz won't have that extra fifth year to entice him with and we get a better shot at signing him.

Do you guys think a lineup of IT-Hayward-PG/Butler-Horford-Center(Zizic?!) could realistically compete with Cleveland?

No doubt, you are talking of 3 allstars in their prime+ former alstar Horford...at center spot any veteran bigman would be ok...with Zizic slowly getting used to NBA.

We could beat CLE, but probably still not be good enough to beat GSW...would depend on improvement of our young bench in years to come.

Amazingly still a 5th starter problem with that group. Probably better served to go small to maximize spacing and retain Al's diminishing quickness advantages.

If you shove all in like that though, you can find a veteran ring chaser to fill out your roster. You can nab a Zaza or West caliber guy for the vet min fairly easily

The dream is Zach Randolph as far as ring chasers go

Z-Bo on the vet min would be a steal. Guy can certainly still go in a limited role

Sign him, sign Zizic and yabu. Trade pieces and future picks for another all star. Draft another young stud. People mad that J Brown for not averaging 15 ppg at age 20. Look at Haywards career path. His rookie year he averaged less ppg in about the same amount of min per game on a team that won a lot less games. That's why we aren't trading our assets for more picks. You have to wait 4-5 years to hope they may be a star.

I absolutely believe so. And if the bench was ++ I might give us the advantage.

Here's a good summary of Hayward's 5 contract options. There is one scenario that has him opt in that gives him the most amount of guaranteed money overall, but only if he makes an all-NBA team.

Well, LBJ took less money to play with his buddies. Maybe he takes less to play with his coach.

He'll be a Celtic this summer, the surest thing I know of.

Add Fultz in the draft and we're super small. Wont need/have to make decision on Bradley/Crowder until deadline or in the summer of 18'.
