I'd hate to lose this one. We survived the game after the GSW win, and losing to the Mavs this season would suck.
Lets get 16.

48 minutes of Shane Larkin guarding Yogi Ferrell. Battle of the midgets.

HOT BUTTON TOPIC: Is Jaylen Brown already the better player today than one Harrison Barnes?!

I haven't seen Barnes play at all this season and only saw the Mavs games vs. the Cs last season so no idea how much he's progressed from his days in GS. I just looked at their numbers this season and they're awfully close, with Barnes having an edge in assist %, FT%, and points per 100 poss. Outside of context, it seems the production of our sophomore is already better than the six-year wing (he's not Brown's ceiling, but I was just wondering since they're meeting today).

They have a ton of bigs that are tall, but don't look like they can hit a 3.

Baynes and Theis should see minutes this game.

Noel (might get 1 minute), Dwight Powell, Salah Mejri, Maximilian Kleber.

Hopefully Josh McRoberts is still out for them. And while Dirk can hit a 3, he can't move.

This is looking tailor made for a Baynes, Horford frontcourt to just feast defensively.

Sweet sixteen.

There's more to see in this passing scene, a dozen players with ability. Before you go and hit the aisle, stick around for Rick Carlisle... walk out the arena with a loss.

Hopefully we get the lead to Gino time levels, for the Daniel Theis vs. Maxi Kleber Bundesliga rematch

The only thing worse than the streak ending is losing to a bad team to end the streak. Hope it doesn't happen because we will be hearing "fluke" incessantly from all the haters.

Never been a Barnes fan, myself.

Brown's development from Year 1 to Year 2 is insane. His trajectory is straight up.

His shot is nice, his finishing is nice, his handle is tighter. He just needs to fix his FT shooting and improve his passing, and he's a pretty complete player. Obviously there's work to be done across the board, but he just turned 21.

Not a fan either. But the comparison was thrown around early last season (and Jeff Green lol). He's one of the high-priced wings and it seemed when Mavs signed him, they were betting on him to make a leap as a franchise foundation player.

I think we need to be a bit careful on Jaylen. I'm pleasantly surprised by the expansion of Jaylen's game this year but he has a LOT of work to do. He's not that efficient overall. He doesn't make anybody better on offense and he's pretty much a non-passer. Plus he needs to learn to run PNR. These are multi-year initiatives for him. On the upside, his defense looks like it has a chance to be all-NBA status in a couple of years.

That wasn't a very deep thought. Would have expected him to say it's exceeded all he could have hoped for society and it has allowed him to reach a greater plane of existence. We badly need a Bill Walton sit down with Kyrie.

Yeah, what makes him such a neat fit with our new big 3 (Kyrie, Hayward, Horford) is that they are all playmakers and his athleticism gives them a finisher to run with.

Hayward being out has made the offense clunkier than planned, but even so, Brown has been a good cog in the machine on offense partly because we ask him to be a finisher. Get the ball and attack.

For this season alone, improving his FG% close to the rim and FT% are reasonable targets. Ball moving will come later.

Agreed 100% on his future development items. Would also add in improving upon his finishing and FTs.

Disagree on him not making teammates better— I think he provides good spacing, cutting and rebounding. He’s also a terror in transition and always looking to push it up the court which helps create good looks. He can get much better [especially at passing], for sure, but I think there’s a reason that the team is +14.5 per 100 possessions when he’s on the court compared to when he sits. And it’s not only his defense.
