Its not foolish...its corruption. Thats whole saga was an event the mafia only wished they could arrange.

Awesome!!!! Sox pulled off a 9th inning come back, and a 10th inning win against the Yanks!!!! 4 game sweep, and now a 9 1/2 game lead.
Right now the Sox are playing at a historic pace, with a very real possibility of winning over 110 games this year.

Not much rest. They normally play about 6 - 7 games in a row, then a day off - rinse and repeat for 6 months.
Unlike other sports the actual game itself isn't as exhausting (lot of standing around, waiting for some action to come their way), but the wear and tear of a long season, with not much down time does get extremely tiring.
Pitchers normally only pitch once every 6 games or so. (depends on how many different pitchers the team has in it's rotation). Also most pitchers usually pitch into the 6th or 7th inning (depending on "pitch count"), then a relief pitcher / closer will take over to finish the game.
Probably the hardest job is that of the catcher. Day after day of squatting down, catching balls being thrown at them over 90 mph (I can't imagine the wear and tear on their knees).
The first baseman also gets a lot of action. Sometimes an outfielder might only get the ball hit to them a couple times a game.
Most players get about 4 times at bat (again, depends on the score as to how often they come to the plate).
Games take around 3 hours to play.

Sox still rolling along! Martinez hit a 3 rum homer in the 8th to take a 5 - 3. The Jays scored in both the 8th and 9th to tie the game and send it into extra innings. In the 10th Morland homered for the Sox, and helped them win their 80th of the year. As of right now the Spanks are tied in the 8th. If NY loses that game, Boston will have a huge 10 game lead.
Right now the Sox are on par to destroy their team record for most wins in a year (possibly even challenging the all-time record of 116 wins).

Mookie hits for the Cycle!!! Unfortunately the Sox lost tonight 8 - 5, but Betts hit a homer in the 9th inning to complete the cycle (a single, double, triple and homer). He's only the 21st player in the history of the Red Sox to do that.

The Sox put on an offensive show, beating Baltimore 19 - 12, and in the process erased a 5 run early deficit. Eovaldi had his first bad performance for the Sox, giving up 8 runs (4 earned), but thankfully Boston's powerful lineup was able to overcome that.
Boston has averaged 9 runs a game so far in August, and are still on pace to make a run at history (breaking the MLB record of 116 wins in a season).

Sox took 2 games in Baltimore today. 5 - 0 in the first game and 6 - 4 in the second. Price pitched a really nice game to open the double-header, only allowing 5 hits. In the second game Martinez hit 2 more homers with 3 rbi's to increase his league leading totals in both categories. Boston now has a 9 1/2 game lead over the Yanks.

red sox have a legit chance at breaking mlb's season win record 116 - they can do it with 11 or fewer losses

Omg. I have no idea. I never liked the sport anyways. I think it’s amazing that these guys have that level of skill to hit a baseball. It’s truly incredible to me, but at the same time the game is just so dull and slow. It’s not a contact sport and it’s really the least of a team sport as you can get. Like.. there’s no teamwork. I think coaching is the most meaningless here to among sports. They can pretty much have any bum that’s good at math play the odds on so many decisions.
Even for fans of the game, there’s just way to many games that are way to long. Who the heck is lucky enough to have the time to watch most of these games? I don’t know anyone.
If they cut it to 7 innings and three in some rules like a reliever has to pitch to at least two batters, it would save sooo much time. I’m all for shortening games in every sport except maybe football. I mean, I’d like if it was shorter but I don’t really care either.
I live hoops but would love a 40 minute game.

Turned on the Pats tonight since Brady is playing and it's vs. the Eagles.

edit: I know it's just preseason, but could the Pats have shown some of the defense they are tonight say in the Super Bowl? :noway:

It's official, Boston is getting a championship or two this year. I can feel it. These teams are just too good.
