Where's Tatum? Controversy! Probably too busy watching Power.

My sources (aka Twitter) mentioned Tatum being in attendance. No mention of rookies Carsen Edwards, Grant Williams, Tremont Waters, Romeo Langford, and Brad Stevens going to the event. Everyone else was there. Jaylen probably didn't invite Stevens, still mad at Brad for pulling him off the floor every time he makes mistakes.

Was happy/encouraged to see Hayward was there too— real good sign for team chemistry going forward.

Were Theis or Poirier there? I didnt see them in my quick glances.

Everyone apart from R.Williams attended the Celtics season opening gala. Jaylen's fundraising event was a separate occasion. Theis and Poirier were there, yes, along with their partners.

Embiid is going to get his. I think the key is to hit more 3 point shots and at a higher percentage than Phily.

I think that if the Boston Celtics score more points than the Philadelphia 76ers, there is a good chance of pulling off the win.

Embiid would put up 50 on 20 shots against Poirier

Yes, sorry, didn't realize it was a separate thing. Saw the suit JB had on and made an assumption. I hadn't checked IG when I replied, when I did, I saw all the videos and comments about it.

Thank you! :)

It literally didn't happen last year. Didn't someone here say someone on last year's team had a party and only one teammate attended?

-- Hayward will be the first starter to sit, so that he can help ball-handle for the reserves.
-- Jayson and Jaylen will get almost all their minutes together.
-- Kanter will not start.
-- Theis will.

All this is based on the theory that rotations in preseason are indicative of what the coach wants to try in the regular season ... and, hey, whatever he did in preseason seemed to work pretty well.

In general terms, that all makes sense to me.
Kanters scoring is needed off the bench.
Kanters rebounding is needed everywhere.
Kanters defence is...well...I'll tell you when we find it.

Plenty of alternatives to play with. Curious to see how we defend Embiid in game 1. I think we are going to throw a lot of quick doubles at him and make him beat us passing the ball. I'm pretty excited to see what we can come up with. I loved the speed we saw from us defensively in the preseason. Aggressive in the passing lanes, quick hands, long arms. Should be fun. My main concern is if we will be able to finish possessions with a rebound.

I’d start Rwill against embiid. Theis is just too small. He can’t even block guards attacking the rim, and is a poor rebounder. Sixers would have a field day inside. and we would scramble to double embiid and horford down low.

If you want a guy to stop Embiid's back-to-the-basket game and his putbacks, would Rob Williams be any better than Theis?

I think the Frenchman is gonna get a look. I suspect he'll get destroyed, but surely playing him against big bodied 5s is why we have him?

Agreed--I think Poirier will get the call where size, beef, and the will to defend are required. He is the closest thing they have right now for filling the role that Baynes used to have. As Rob refines his play and as an alternative, he'll get some chances, but Poirier is probably best equipped for those battles right now.

Don't try to muscle Embiid. Make him guard a quicker player. Go small, space the floor and shoot the trey. Do what the Warriors do.

So ... Grant Williams? :)

Obviously, the best case would be to play 5-out with anybody (presumably Theis or Grant) and have it work. Raining 3s on Philly is always fun.

So, just curious. Just in terms of talent, which team has/had better talent, the last year that IT was here, or this year's team? That other team certainly had more experience, but I think I'd give the talent nod to this team. I think we're going to be closer to the Philly/Milw tier than the group of Ind, Bkn, Mia, Orl.

The Sabonis situation, unsurprisingly, isn't expected to be resolved at least until trade possibilities open up midseason.

I think the Celtics should be all over Sabonis, but not for Brown. I'm probably a majority of one, but I would offer Langford, Time Lord, Green and two non-Memphis first rounders. Memphis needs wings.

Sabonis is smart, excellent passer, scores at all three levels. Perfect Horford replacement.

As for paying him, it's not a problem if Hayward opts out. Even if Hayward doesn't, you can choose to match offers on either Sabonis or Brown if you don't feel you can pay both.

no one will give more than a random first round and a useful bench player for sabonis. He is just a 3 big coming from the bench in his RFA year, the market for this type of C is very small, only about 3-4 teams will offer something for him.

Return to Boston Celtics
