ime has to trust some guys a little more, brown cant play 46m after covid and no practice, give romeo 4 of those minutes at least.

After the strength of their preseasons I would’ve liked to see more of Romeo and Nesmith.

Other than that, we definitely missed Horford and had a terrible stretch on offense in the 2nd quarter and on defense in the 3rd quarter but otherwise I’m pretty happy with the team for Game 1 on the road.

Jaylen with a career high despite just recovering from COVID was impressive. Tatum will bounce back. Hopefully Friday night — I’ll be at the game :)

riiiight, cause no team has ever improved their defense / made any adjustments after game 1 of the season

this is a classic "1st game of the season overreaction"

c'mon. first game of the season is pretty meaningless. we beat the bucks last year on opening night. how'd that work out for us and how'd that work out for the bucks last year?

No overreacting. If Ime is stubborn and goes with his bush league defensive philosophy the Celtics are a bottom 10/bottom 5 defense. Just a fact. It doesn’t work.

It always leaves the three point shooter wide open (i.e. Fournier). Good teams and great players will eat it up. The Hardens, Curry, Lillard will average 50 points against the Celtics. Just a horrible philosophy

Hopefully Udoka isn’t stubborn.

I truly feel that Brown will be our leading scorer this year. He plays with versatility where Tatum settles for the outside shot more times than not. I don't expect Tatum to be a post up player but I wish he would go back to what he did well when he started his NBA career.......a solid mid range game. He has to have the same mindset as Paul Pierce.......get to the free throw line multiple times per game.

yes, switch til the cows come home. didn't even think about calling a replay even when the entire bench stepped out with the finger twirling. cbs would have called one of them at least. we had 34 assists, left a good 15 more out there.

Jaylen was +16 in 46 minutes, which means in the 12 minutes he didn't play the C's were -20.

Likewise Timelord was +11 in 45 minutes. So the C's were -15 in the 13 minutes he didn't play.

Not sure either played in the last few minutes of the 4th or in either OT. Could have at least done some offense for defense type substations. That and the same 5 players were totally exhausted. Also not playing young players only leads them to lose confidence. Same as Brad did.

I think people in general are being a little too hard on Grant. Randle is a 6'9 2nd team all NBA power forward. Of course Grant is gonna lose that matchup. But so will juancho. Or Kanter. Or literally any availble body the c's had tonight.

They need Horford back so either he can guard randle, or Williams can and they can have Horford still there to guard the rim. They could also very much use one more PF like guy. My dream is they flip one of Richardson/Langfor/Nesmith or just use the TPE+ a 1st to bring in a PF rotation guard to add a little functional size by the deadline, but that may depend on them being good enough to justify the upgrade.

AKFO wrote:Great to have basketball back but what a frustrating loss. Feels like we always waste those game tying buzzer beaters at the end of regulation. switch-everything defense looked bad at times as did the transition defense for a long stretch. Ime's gonna have to iron that out.

Tatum couldn't make shots but tough to be worried about him.

Schroder was definitely pressing a bit trying to involve himself in the offense and had a rough ot as well.

Jaylen played a great game and tough not to at least get the win for him. Marcus shot well too.

Grant played well and looks improved but still played way too much. But props to Ime for also being willing to play some of the young wings over Josh Richardson. Richardson will have his time and I think the competition will be good for everyone.

I'm also about one game away from being ready to label Romeo a good shooter. Shot looks great more often than not.

Ready to get Horford back. Hopefully we can put the L behind us and string together some wins. This is the first year I've been watching that I think the East might be better than the West top to bottom. Would be nice to get ahead.

Richardson was a late scratch with migraines.

100% We got Brad still hoarding coaches challenges from last season so I hope Ime isn't planning to do the same!

I swear Fournier (if he stayed with the C's) would never play this well with us, but now that he's with a different team, of course he plays out of his mind.

We all want Tatum to be the next Larry or the next Paul but he has too many clunkers. Anyone can miss but when your shot isnt falling you need to find other ways to help your team. I didn’t t see that tonight from Tatum. He continued to chuck 3’s right to the final buzzer

Tatum 7 for 30. Yikes

How many games does Brooklyn win if KD shoots like that? Or Milwaukee if Giannis does that?

Not many.

Boston wins this game with ease if Horford plays or Tatum shoots 13 for 30.

I would lean towards agreeing with you because Tatum will be facing the better defenders and double teams but don't underestimate Tatum taking it upon himself to chuck away and score more due to more volume especially if we struggle since he'll be trying to get his and knows he is out the door when he demands a trade.

I was a fan of keeping him here but just have to hope saving the money on him nets us a lot better player next year.
