Even with Smart and Tatum shooting poorly, the team falls off a cliff when they sit. -12 net rating for the team when either of them sit, Rob is next up at -8.

Their offensive rating when Tatum sits is 92.6, good lord. That just shows that even if he’s shooting like **** and not scoring, all the attention defenses pay to him makes life infinitely easier for everyone else.

Nice win.

VC to Al. He played really well.

Smart was solid.

Grant played well off the bench with 11 and 4.
Josh also played well.

Tatum with another horrible shooting night, going 7-20. Four or five of his makes were either dunks or layup. He is in a big funk shooting wise. His 8 rebounds, 5 assists and solid defense was good to see.

Glad to see Kanter finally get some minutes. He had 5 points, 2 rebounds and set two really good screens in his 8 minutes. Kanter is a beast and he needs to get more minutes.

Once Tatum busts out of the slump, and Jaylen is back, I think it’ll be a fringe top 10 offense.

Feel like this team just has .500 written all over it until Tatum figures out his sh*t.

Anyway, happy with the dub for sure

In terms of individual talent, this season's team may be deeper, but impact-wise, they're not there yet. And remember when Tatum-led bench lineups killed opposing benches previous seasons? I don't think that's happening now with JT's struggles. Past seasons' benches were also more reliable defensively.

EDIT:
101 possessions with Tatum ON the floor, Jaylen/Smart/Horf all OFF = net rating of -29.2, offensive rating of 97.0.

Yeah regardless of net ratings and all that, we’re not going to make any type of jump until Tatum starts shooting like Tatum.

And as for the bench net ratings being so bad, I think all the injuries have skewed things, on top of inconsistent play. But we need better play from Tatum+bench guys, pretty cut and dry.

Okay, my bad, Cs bench currently ranked 2nd in defensive rating, per NBA/stats. Dead last in offensive rating lol.

The more things change, the more they stay the same? :P

I guess I’m still frustrated with that thin Milwaukee win and that embarrassing loss to Cleveland two days ago…..

Okay win…but still not that statement I wanted to see.

This team needs lots of work on offense. We look like a playground team.

The D is fine….I guess Schroder is warming up to me and made some smart plays the last few minutes. We’re getting more out of Al than I expected too. I’ll take the win but I’m not getting any hopes up…

Smarty pants. He’s learning the starting pg role on the fly, so there’s some pain, but I like the way he’s been trending lately.

Al, Grant, Tatum and Romeo played well also. Romeos d on garland was just efficient. Always in front of him, always in the right spot. Not loud or sexy, but effective.

A win is a win. Hope to build something positive. Of course we are supposed to beat a team of Rubio, Osman and Garland pretty easily, but we are playing **** so far, so im good with every win we can get. Tatum still horrible at shooting. Al played great. Smart played good. Glad Kanter played. He gave that energy boost off the bench. Rubio is really legit. Just imagine if we have a guy like that for a pg. i’d trade Smart for Rubio right now in a heart beat.

Cavs' top two players tonight, by far: A Spaniard and a Turk.
Celtics' best player tonight: From the Dominican Republic.
Other Celtics' contributors tonight: A German and a Turk.
Cavs' top +/- guy (only one better than +2): Tacko Fall!!!

I thought Smart played a great game. Schoeder bailed the team out in the end. But Al deserves it he has surpassed my expectations.

It's also good to see the PR team is back. Lol
I apologize for the things I have said in the past.

Thanks for pointing this out.
Cleveland is a very good defensive team too.
One day Marcus Smart will be defensive player of the year, mark my words.

Awful game but at least we won it.

Udoka`s rotations were all over the place again...

Cant wait until JB is back and hopefully there is nothing serious with Rob. I want to see this team at full strength and how our rotation will look then.

Also with JB back Schröder can go to the bench to elevate its scoring...

Tatum again shot .350 from the field, like .250 from 3. This is becoming very concerning, it's been 14 games, his shooting is terrible. I literally didn't expect this at all. Him being that bad on offense came out of the blue.
Good assessment:

PLO wrote:Tatum played OK - took advantage of a few mismatches - decent on the defensive end. He is what we thought he was going into the season - a technically very proficient player operating close to his career ceiling as a rookie.
