Aaron should not play in SL. He has nothing to gain by playing in SL. If he plays well, then people say well of course he would play well, it's only SL and he is a 1st round pick from 3 seasons ago. If he plays just ok, it's not a good look. It's a no win situation for him. If Brad or Ime are asking him to play, then that's different. It's better he take some time off and be around assistant coaches and work on his game that way. Much like Grant last off season.

dude. it's not about what's a good look or a bad look. who cares what people say?

Bottom line, it's year 3 for him. it's a make or break year. he's gotta show this season that he's an NBA player or we're gonna ship him out of town at the deadline just like we did with romeo (if we even keep nesmith here that long).

He needs to play in summer league to:

a) prove to Udoka and Brad that he's an NBA player and
b) get reps that will help his development

That's it. Bottom line. screw everything else..
Nothing wrong with having a different opinion - as long as it's done respectfully. It'd be lame if we all agreed on everything :)

For sure Trevion Williams can lock up at least the 15th man spot on the roster. I could see, under Horford's guidance, being a better PF than G. Will. If he can work on his defense, then his scoring and passing would fit in nicely with the team. Already taller, and a better passer. Looks more athletic too. Has to be better than Fitts or Morgan, and certainly better than Kornet.

Eurobasket (they may require him to play the qualifiers) over a meaningless SL appearance is kind of understandable. I mean it's meaningless because he's not ready to take a role on the big club with or without JD.

Probably want to prepare as best as he can for the Partizan season. Obradovic is very demanding, I don’t blame him

I'm really hoping Trevion Williams can stick on the main team. I'm a sucker for bigs that can pass.

SL won't do that for him. A good showing for Aaron in SL is not going to change Ime or Brad's opinion on him. Training camp, pre season and early in the season will show more to the coaching staff.

Ime proved he has very little confidence in the bench by playing only 7 guys in the finals. White and Grant were the only 2 guys playing off the bench in the Finals. I won't count Pritchard's spare minutes sprinkled here and there. I doubt Boston is counting on Nesmith, Sam Hauser or anyone else outside of the top 7 to contribute this off season. It would be nice if it was one of Nesmith, Pritchard or Hauser.

Brad and Boston realize this and must add 2 proven vets to the bench to have a 9 man rotation so they can keep our main guys fresh in the playoffs.

Celtics need to add to the top 7 players.

Give me one the the FA bigs:

1. Jalen Smith
2. Kevon Looney
3. Jusuf Nurkic
4. Mitchell Robinson
5. Isaiah Hartenstein
6. JaVale McGee

And one of the following SG or SF:

1. Bruce Brown
2. Cody Martin
3. Caleb Martin
4. T.J. Warren
5. Kyle Anderson
6. Joe Ingles
7. Malik Monk

If the Celtics want to do better than getting 2 of those players above, then they have to make trades.

I want Nesmith to do well, but for him to join the rotation, he has to show big improvements in year 3. There currently isn't much playing time for any players not names (Tatum, Brown, Smart, Al, Rob, White or Grant. The Celtics know they need to improve their bench. Go get some solid bench guys that can be trusted to take the team to the next level.

It might happen. Maybe as the 14th or 15th man on the team for now. I have a feeling he will end up with some other team.

I hope we keep him around. Seems like a hard worker, plays hard. Really skilled big who may be the 2nd best passing big in the league after Jokic.

Really looking forward to seeing him and Davison in summer league.

At the moment they have what, 5 roster spots open? Maybe 4 with Haueser. Have to think one gets taken with the mid level, maybe another vet min player. That still leaves a few spots open with no real strong suitors at this point, not to mention the two ways. I was honestly hopeful they’d get another second rounder or multiple undrafted guys. At this point there are no other big men signed to the team, he should get plenty of looks this summer.

Crazy how in today’s NBA a 6’7” guy is considered a big

F Sam Hauser
C Trevion Williams
G Yam Madar
G Juhaan Begarin
G JD Davison
F Juwan Morgan
G Brodric Thomas
F Malik Fitts
F Matt Ryan

Not seeing Yam this summer is a bit of a Bummer, BUT the blessing I see is the more steady playing time for JD and the least talked about Celtic player (B Thomas) that I like, splitting all the PG minutes is far better for evaluations and performances.

My current wish list for starting 5 is JD and B Thomas at guards, Begarin and Hauser at Forwards, and Trevion at Big..

M Fitts is my 6th man.. after that whatever..

On a side note last year Grant did not part take in then SL and I was surprised and disappointed. Thought he needed it.. It turns out he did better on his own. With that said, No way I want to see Nesmith in this SL. He killed last SL and it meant zero.

Celtics Summer League Roster, 2022 (as of June 26):
F Sam Hauser
C Trevion Williams
G Juhaan Begarin
G JD Davison
F Juwan Morgan
G Brodric Thomas
F Malik Fitts
F Matt Ryan
G Jordan Bone
(G Aaron Nesmith)?
G Yam Madar

That's only 9 Players, so far. -- I believe that we can go with as little as 8.
But, I don't believe that there is an upper limit. (I've seen a Squad of 25 players.)

Games are only 40 mins long, with 10 min Quarters. Players get 10 Fouls.
I believe that the Rules are different, after the first 4 Games (aka Final Round).

Let’s keep the roster skinny so we can actually get a look at these guys who might fill out the third string of our roster — rather than stuffing it with guys who might be playing for a camp invite somewhere.

This is the only way we can ascertain: does this Matt Ryan actually play basketball? And who the actual **** is Juwan Morgan? And is Malik Fitts actually good? Does Brodric Thomas have any dress clothes?

I'm of two minds about Nesmith and summer league. Yeah, he could use the reps and exposure, but OTOH the team already knows what they've got in him. If POBO and Coach think he's still on a positive development path, maybe it's better to spend his summer working with coaching staff in Boston and figuring out his ... mental block or whatever it is about the shooting.

Next season will be the deciding factor. I think he'll get it figured out, but if not the team can just move on, and I'll continue to get teary-eyed watching Maxey and Bane.

This is understandable, but I get concerned about stashes "going stale" after a couple of years. I have high hopes for Madar, but these guys don't like to stand like wall flowers waiting for a dance. The best ones want to play and want to be coveted, if not by the NBA then elsewhere.
