Imagine only bringing up KD’s Career in Brooklyn in an argument for brown as if we don’t have a decade plus of next level **** from him before that

if you wouldn’t trade Jaylen brown for a top 3 player whose still playing at an mvp level and even if he dropped off 30% would still be in a different tier than Jaylen you just can’t be taken seriously. I’ve been hard on Jaylen and I’ve eaten crow in certain regards but this is just a new level of homerism blind love.

Because KD has done nothing but win championships in Brooklyn. Oh wait...he's won one Playoff series. With a full strength team including a former MVP and another first ballot HOFer. Against a .500 team missing their second star. And they still didn't sweep the series.

KD won two rings by joining a literal dynasty who won it all twice without him. Outside of that, one Finals appearance a decade ago. That's it. And all of this was with a younger, less injury prone KD.

You guys will do ANYTHING to diminish players who are clearly better than brown. You do it every time it comes up and while sometimes you have valid points - trying to diminish KD’s career to prop up brown is next level stuff.

He’s a top 10 player all time.....all time. What the **** would Jaylen brown do as a number 1?..........oh wait......he’s not good enough to be a number 1. He’s an all nba guy tho......oh wait. No he’s not. Well he’s a multiple time all star/perennial all star right ?.....oh wait no he’s not.

KD? Guy is a 2x champ no matter how you spin it. Got to a finals as the guy before and won an mvp. The mental gymnastics you have to try to do to diminish him is not only exhausting but laughable.
You said trading for KD is a matter of “do you enjoy winning championships or not”. As if KD has Michael Jordan's resume or something and even having him on the team is a lock for a title. If that was the case, he would have won in Brooklyn. Or OKC. Or...literally anywhere outside of the dynastic Warriors. And again, this is an older version of that KD.

He's 34 years old. And injury prone. And hasn't won **** outside of the dynasty he joined that would win with or without him. Acting like not wanting to trade a 25 year old all star who was the second best player on our Finals team is rejecting the opportunity for championships is ridiculous. We were JUST competing for a championship weeks ago. With a hobbled/fatigued team. With two young stars who aren't in their prime yet. Saying the decision is down to "do you want championships or not" is ridiculous and insulting.

Do you not understand how father time works? What happened a decade ago, five years ago, etc. doesn't matter here. Everyone would trade for a 27 year old KD lol

There is a chance one of the J's is not signing another contract with the C's so the meter is running to some extent, more so on Brown since his deals expires sooner . I for one think either Brown in a deal for a disgruntled star or Smart + an asset or two has to be moved for the missing ingredient. I would continue to leverage picks as well since we will be drafting in the late 20s for the foreseeable future. I don't think we win it all by just adding bench upgrades like Ross or Batum .

Nobody is suggesting keeping JB is a "lock" to win titles (like the KD camp is). Just saying, neither is KD. And KD is much older, on the downside of his career, and has dealt with serious injuries over the last handful of years.

What other team had an NBA Finals core of guys in their 20s (with your top two being 24 and 25) and went on to break it up for a 34 year old star? Serious question

It’s a moot point. The trade ain’t happening and JB is leaving in 2 years even if we win a title. He was booed the day he was drafted and the fan base has always been weird towards him. I don’t believe he will sign another contract with the Celtics.

Many were for trading JB for Harden. How's that looking now?

If KD was a few years younger, I'd be for it. He'll be 34. and since JB is a UFA in a few years, BKN will want FRP's included. Dealing off the picks will limit the ability to make subsequent moves. GSW and Milwaukee with Middleton are probably just as good as KD and Tatum next year.

I'd do this quite easily if there weren't the caveat that KD and the superstar ilk are little bitchboys who go hot and cold on a dime with their loyalties and decide to upend a franchise in a heartbeat because someone insulted them on twitter. There are short term windows and then there is a guy making an emotional decision to run off for greener looking grass after a 3 game losing streak. I can't abide by that. Newly found best friends making pinky promises in locker room tunnels and roller derby bathrooms. Late night snapchats 'dogg my team is wack' 'yah mine too lurl' 'lets get together' 'totes teehee lol rofl lmfao lamelo' nah **** that

No that’s how you took it....if you add KD to to this team and subtract Jaylen we are a championship favorite. Heavy favorite. Not celebrating winning 2 games in the finals. Also I was quoting someone who had a funny line but FYI Kevin Durant is closer to Michael Jordan than Jaylen brown is to being all nba so your diss isn’t that off lol.

It’s not about wanting or advocating just to trade brown- it’s advocating trading brown for Kevin Durant......this is a ridiculous conversation. He’s a 25 year old 1 time all star pleas stop talking about this guy like he’s coming off 3 straight all star games. He’s a very good player- top 30 or so in the league.

The Celtics are sitting home if Middleton is healthy. Point blank period. Not really a diss because the bucks are really really good with a generational talent but get real- we went 7 with them and won by an ass hair without the bucks 2nd best player and arguable best half court shot creator.

Again you are completely diminishing EVERYTHING KD did before golden state- like lead a team to the finals at like 24 as the lead dog, win an mvp, things that jaylen at his best won’t sniff. No one just wants to trade Jaylen we are talking about trading him for KD- it’s not some bum so again get **** reallllllllllll

I advocated for it. To be clear this harden is STILL better than Jaylen brown even in his diminished form lol. That said that’s one where I was wrong on and 80% of the reason I actually was wrong is because of the Jump TATUM made. JT finished this season about a year ahead of where I figured he’d be the end of next season.

I figured harden would be a great bridge until Tatum became undisputed top 10/1st team all nba guy. Luckily for us Tatum made that jump this year and we didn’t trade for harden. That’s not to say jaylen hasn’t made strides and made me eat some crow- he’s improved a lot also. But the reason I wouldn’t make that trade TODAY is because of Jayson Tatum.....not Jaylen brown.

Also bad comparison comparing harden now to what KD still is.

I’ll take all the heat for being firmly in the “no” camp on this one. Lock it up, put it in the vault, revisit in three years and if I’m wrong I’ll own it. I hope for good health for both players going forward and hope Durant remains on a viable team because he barely made the playoffs this year and then got swept.

Stuff like this makes the board fun. Everyone here has been wrong a bunch, and will continue to do so.

KD being the much better player the next couple of years really isn’t debatable though.

Just like Brooklyn with KD/Harden/Kyrie was a heavy favorite. Until you know, injuries and dysfunction landed them in the very position we are discussing right now with KD being in trade talks. Again, younger version closer to his peak too.

A 34 year old KD is not a lock for a title at all. We'd have 1-2 years where we'd have a real shot before the decline begins (if it doesn't begin earlier).

JB was the second option (and arguably our best player in the NBA Finals) on a Finals team at 25. A part of a core who has had incredible success together at a young age. Like...no other teams in this position are even considering breaking it up lol. You're acting like KD isn't in his mid 30s lol. KD before Golden State was in his mid 20s. And he still wasn't a "lock" for the Finals/a title playing with another young superstar. We aren't getting that KD.

That’s not to say jaylen hasn’t made strides and made me eat some crow- he’s improved a lot also. But the reason I wouldn’t make that trade TODAY is because of Jayson Tatum.....not Jaylen brown.

Also bad comparison comparing harden now to what KD still is.

At the time of those discussions, Harden was an MVP level player. Similar to KD now. Hell, Harden has a top 3 MVP finish more recently than KD does

Newly found best friends making pinky promises in locker room tunnels and roller derby bathrooms. All of this. He's as much a "diva" as that guy Kyrie. Do we really want that drama again?

I think you're underrating Kyrie's uniqueness. He's much more likely to sail his team off the rim of the Earth than Durant is.

I could be talked into trading for Durant.
