I kind of agree with what you're saying. But moreso I think that...

-Rumor has it Marcus was butting heads quite a bit with Mazzulla towards the end of the season. I also got the vibe that Marcus was not happy having to sacrifice so much with the additions of White and Brogdon. He also got into a heated altercation with JB after a game:

-Like Smart, Grant also has an ego that is too big for the caliber of player he actually is. Dude was a role player on a rookie contract, yet he got up in Butler's face, then Butler got so motivated he crushed us for the rest of that game (we were up 9 when Grant got in his face, then we lost the game and eventually the series).

-Grant also got in Mitchell's face, said he'd make both FT's, he then bricked both and we lost to the Cavs.

-Grant also tried to do too much at times, like when he passed up an open 3 to try and drive the ball against Giannis, ends up coughing the ball up and we lose the game (and the 1 seed) to milwaukee.

-We made Grant a fair contract offer last summer. He rejected it, saying that he wanted $20 mil a year instead. Again, showing that he is a me-first guy, rather than a team-first guy.
Nothing wrong with having a different opinion - as long as it's done respectfully. It'd be lame if we all agreed on everything :)

While i agree with you, i don't hold Grant's anthics against him. He is that cocky player type, and that worked for us in the past and it backfired recently. But that's why he now can smoke some sage with Kyrie in Dallas instead of fighting for a chip. He gambled on his own market in FA and we didn't play ball.

I mean, he should have been angry after game 2.

-Like Smart, Grant also has an ego that is too big for the caliber of player he actually is. Debatable, I liked that he showed fight and came up with some big plays when his teammates and coach seemed to prefer a "give it the old college try and then have excuses ready when it doesn't work" effort. He is a competitor.

-We made Grant a fair contract offer last summer. He rejected it, saying that he wanted $20 mil a year instead. Again, showing that he is a me-first guy, rather than a team-first guy.

He bet on himself and gave himself an opportunity to earn a larger contract, and still ended up with, approximately, what I assume we would have given him. I can't blame him for that. Regardless, he has played team first more often than not, even when surrounded by selfish teammates.

Marcus and Grant were our two most physical defenders and two of our harder competitors, and we will miss them. We got back awesome value for Smart, who arguably should have been traded as is, not mad at that. Grant I'm not angry about losing as we ideally needed to upgrade him as is, though we haven't replaced him yet IMO and I'm not thrilled with the future seconds (TE is useful, tho, so idk).

sam_I_am wrote:Kornet will get a lot of minutes this year or will be replaced by someone else who will. Al/Rob/KP will all play 65 or less games and less than 30 min. per game. We need a regular season big who will eat minutes. Kornet did a good job of that last year.

He played 69 games only ate up 11 mpg and was yucky
