Nothing wrong with having a different opinion - as long as it's done respectfully. It'd be lame if we all agreed on everything

From the worst team in the league to be...maybe the 7 seed?
They'll be no walk in the park anymore, and you know Ime will have them competing hard.
Gonna be fascinating to watch them this season and see just how much of a leap they make from last season.
OKC is gonna be very good too.
Orlando and Detroit - will be interesting to see how good they are.
Hell, the spurs will be good.
Wizards will probably be the only team in the league that's an easy win haha. It's gonna be a fun season.
Houston has way too many players who need the ball in their hand I don't see them getting too much better. Even worse they went all in on Guards and look rather small overall..
Ime going from 2 bigs to 3 or 4 short starters..should be interesting..
2 things need to go.. my lack of spell check and Joe..

Grant is a legit starter on the All-Food team.

Actually including Thybulle in that list is the most comical thing I’ve seen all week.
It’s amazing Hollinger still has a platform

Grant can be a starter in the right situation.
Like he can be a starter alongside Porzingis.
But the Cs still have Horford, so Grant will still be behind Al.

Make him sit out.
Dont give in, eventually the league will step in and punish dame.
Time to put an end to these bitch athletes making outrageous demands
Yeah I agree. I don't care about him wanting to go to Miami either. Everyone in the NBA wants to go to Miami.
But at some point the NBA need to force these children to honor the contracts that they signed. Just grow up and play
If I were commissioner I'd let Miami trade for him then suspend him for the remainder of his contract.

I guess no one is taking the 3 Hornet players too seriously. All had good numbers, but most probably realize it was because how bad a team they were on.

Bit of a Debbie Downer. Until the TPE teams use them, Grant S&T still in play. A fair # of teams also with full MLE still available to sign others in their tier of players outright and thin the herd. Unless someone tells me different regarding the TPE teams and restrictions I'm not considering, I remain hopeful.

Re: Trade/Free Agency Thread, part 7, 2023-24
I hope we go for the low risk high reward of signing Banton to a cheap deal.
Genuinely curious how many players in NBA history (at least in the past 20 years) who are 6'9" or taller (what he measured in shoes at the combine) and posted and posted an assist % of 20% or higher in their first 95 NBA games. Banton is 19.6 but I'll round up to 20.
The way he moves like guard, can handle the ball and pass like a guard at 6'9" and still just 23 yrs old is intriguing. I'd give him a flier as an end of the bench minimum contract guy, with the upside to potentially end of being a quality rotation piece.
Also this season (only 31 games but still..) posted a 4.5% blocks rate. An insane number for a 2nd year guard/wing. Over 9% rebounding rate both seasons in the league, too - very respectable for a guard/wing in his first 2 seasons in the league.
He could potentially be Ben Simmons, but with average defense instead of all-NBA level defense. That's a very solid role player. At least bring him in to training camp..

Re: Trade/Free Agency Thread, part 7, 2023-24
dame waited til after free agency to make sure mia was the only one with something left to give (out of teams on his list, which are contenders). tried to let other teams tie themselves into other players/trades so they wouldn't have anything to outbid Mia.
NAME ON THE FRONT OF THE JERSEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!(!)

lol raptors lose Vanvleet, sign Mcdaniels. Really going all in and embracing the whole 6'8"/6'9" wing at every position the floor thing.
I'm sure they'll be trading Trent and resigning Banton next haha.

Re: Trade/Free Agency Thread, part 7, 2023-24
“Dame, who’s better you or Tyler Herro?”
Obviously me
“Okay and if you owned a basketball team what would you do to the GM who trades Damian Lillard for Tyler Herro?”
“Fire him.”
“Bingo, and that’s why you’re not going to the heat. I’m not losing my job so you can go play with your buddy”
This is obviously not how conversations go down in the fairytale world of celebs and athletes but it’s so cut and dry I wish it did.

So is this Dame thing going to work itself out quickly or drag out for awhile? Whatever we think it will be the opposite will happen.
